With those rumors of Jax returning, i've been thinking: what if he, and/or other heroes who died in MK9, return as Quan Chi's revenants? They (the revenants) have already been mentioned, and chances are, it wasn't for nothing.

To me, it'd be preferable to them returning exactly as they were before dying, as if nothing happened. Returning from the dead in MK should have long lasting consequences, as we've seen with Drahmin, Scorpion, Noob Saibot and others. The revenants' designs should reflect their new state. They don't have to be rotting corpses, but they shouldn't be completely recognizable. Their intros should also acknowledge that they're revenants.

The revenants can always be given "living" alts where they look just like they used to, complete with intros where they act like their old selves.

If they're going to resurrect anyone, they should wait at least one game or two before restoring them to their old selves, if they did that. Just because death in MK isn't permanent, doesn't mean that a character's death cannot be an important part of their development.

I agree, there has to be consequences for dead character returning in MKX. I hope NRS has good explanations or at least fitting character designs for the returning dead as you mentioned.

If anything, they should act/appear like Sindel right? Her body and soul were altered when she was revived from the dead.

I am very much afraid that they'll just do some bullshit like in DC comics where if a hero dies they just bring him back as he is and nothing changes, life goes on.

Because that really made me hate the comics and that made me start thinking they are very childish because if a hero can be brought back again and again it devalues the whole point of death and starts being stupid because you always know they come back either way.

I really like what MK did in the past with liu kang bring him back as zombie I know a lot of people didn't like it but at least it kind of made sense there was consequence to his death.

What I am afraid of is that they'll bring the characters back with the explanation "Ohhh hey look we defeated Quan chi now the souls are free and they can be restored to their bodies"

Then how the fuck did they get out of the bodies in the first place lol.

"A possibility of Quan Chi doing the same shit he already did in MK9" except they're "zombies" and not souls this time, walking on soil.

Sure, why not?

It'll make a decent CGI battle in the story mode when Shinnok and Quan Chi tries to take over Earthrealm.
The zombie Earthrealm warriors fighting Johnny, Sonya and Raiden, while they scream "omgstopdontyourememberme?" over and over...

And then Kotal Kahn comes out of nowhere fucking shit up like "nuh uh grey bitches, Aztec's in that ass! This my domain to reign".

I hope not, their death has to have some impact, let them stay dead and at best free their souls in the end so they can rest, but no resurrection bs.

But If any of them takes the wraith/corruption route, it should be the strongest one, someone who holds enough hate or thirst for vengeance so it can be exploited by Quan Chi to twist him into a monster, and that's Lui Kang, his grudge towards Raiden might just do the trick.

There's too many characters that got killed off, so it's tough to keep things interesting if they all turn that way. But Liu Kang is someone I could see potentially changing, or even Nightwolf.
