A new idea for Quan Chi, if he survived how did he lose the amulet.
As Quan Chi is running away from the explosion, Shinnok's who's been trapped in the Netherrealm since the end of MKG is finally able up a small portal and suck Quan Chi in. Because Quan Chi does not want Shinnok to recover the amulet, he's able to get it clear (although unfortunately into Onaga's possession) Shang Tsung however does die and in the Netherrealm, he finds Shinnok happily torturing Quan Chi. grin

Um... well how I go from there I don't know, but that could be a way to get Shinnok back into the story and how Quan Chi could've escaped the blast.

I just hope they bring back Shinnok as a boss or at least as a secret character in MK7. I didn't like Onaga in MKD.

I think Shinnok should come back, but not as a boss. He needs more develoment and more fleshing out of his story.

As for Quan Chi, maybe he left a fake for Onaga even though that does sound a bit farfetched.

That would be so random. Quan Chi manages to escape his fate by from Onaga by a portal that comes out of the blue?

If Quan Chi were to survive that blast the most logical way to explain that is to simply say he was thrown away from the battle by the explosion Raiden had created.

I'd say that Quan Chi was buried under the remains of Shang Tsung's palace and he lost his amulet from the impact of the explosion.

How would he have survived from the power of the explosion itself? Would it be due to utilizing the amulet's powers as well as maybe some of his own magical power?

If Quan Chi can escape from the bowels of the Netherealm with no aid of the Gods, and also have the power to revive an undead army I believe he would be able to survive a mighty explosion.

Quan Chi is very skilled in the art of Black Magic, and if Onaga survived that blast with no scratch on him. I could see Quan Chi surviving but he would be messed up from the impact of the blast.

Well, it was Shang Tsung's part to actually revive Onaga's army through his knowledge and skill of soul transplantation.

Onaga was hardly phased by Raiden's attack, because he has the Kamidogu, which endows him with power that rivals that of the Elder Gods themselves. Quan Chi doesn't have such power.

Didn't he lose the amulet because Onaga picked it up?
