i think it be cool to incorperate a counters systom were if you enter the same input as your oponnent it does various animatons.

say scorpion is doing his spear. it is say back forward square, you enter back, forward, square. it can be countered right before you get hit.

sub - zero's counter against scorpion spear would be he put his hand out and freezes the spear which in returns freezes scorpion.

kung lao's counter against scorpion spear he spins his hat and the spear bonces off his hat and comes flying back hitting scorpion.

every move could be countered. each with a various animation depending who you chose.

stryker counters cyrax bomb move by shooting it before it explodes.

kitana's counters sonya kiss move with using her fans to spead the mist back into her face using her fans.

do you like the idea. it be alot of animations but i think it look fantastic. plus you'd have to memorize several character to counter well. it would not be like doa were theres a counter button itself.

It would probably raise problems when two characters have the same inputs for a special move. Which is pretty common. Lots of people have Down-Forward-LP. Almost everybody who teleports hits Down-Up, etc.

Maybe if the countering character hit block instead at the end, like Scorpion's spear is Back,Back,HP and Sub-Zero hits Back,Back,Block.

not sure if this level of intricacy would be TOO complex, but maybe a general counter move like Nightwolf's reflect - one for each character, would be enough, to counter any special move.
