Kung Lao is a good character and it would be a good idea if he was resurrected but it is a slim chance though.

Man do you really think that is a good idea? I mean think about it, wouldn't you feel that the new character with all Lao's moves would feel bland? If they are going to give us a new character, I want that character to be completely new and unique, not another re-skin ya know?

I'd honestly rather have that character die off and remember his/her uniqueness and legacy rather than have a new character take the moves of the previous one every time someone dies. It's just so cheap, I get people want to play as Lao, but that just ruins a character for me... Kira and Jarek come to mind.

Only thing I could really see, other than them retconing some shit, which I don't hold past them anymore, would be bringing some of the dead characters back as DLC for nostalgia purposes, let them have nothing to do with the story of the new game unless it's flashbacks/memories or whatever.

That way the people get to play as them still and it doesn't affect the continuity of the game.

I did see the interview about top tier mk9 guys coming back. But I just have this gut feeling KungLao won't be one of them.

Kung Lao is one of my favs but he should miss this game. Want to see more mk4 onward characters.

Really, the more I think about Kai the more I like him, I hope to see him in, as very agile, athletic, evasive character that fights like a tiger and a spider monkey.

I can see Kai summoning animalistic spirits into himself, especially that of a panther or tiger much like Liu Kang uses a dragon. A move much like Killer Instincts Orchid would be fun for him, where he turns into a spiritual panther/tiger/jaguar/leopard and runs foreward onto the other player, his white tiger stripes glowing is cool too.

Since this game covers 25 years I highly doubt the dead characters will be completely nixed from story mode or gameplay. Just because Quan Chi has their souls does not mean he will keep them forever. What we will probably see is that some of the warriors will return after Shinnok is defeated. Nighwolf and Sindel may not return story mode wise, but I can see others coming back as NPC's ie Jax, Stryker, and sorry to say but Kabal. If Kung Lao is not in the initial roster, I'm pretty confident he'll make DLC.

Either Kung Lao or someone assuming Kung Lao's name will return. Kung Lao is too popular on the competitive scene and the general mainstream to get rid of entirely. Same goes for Cyrax.
