If I was doing the game I wouldn't be focusing on making new characters, I'd be focusing on killing off all the crappy characters that have besmirched the MK name. Polish and perfect what you got before adding new blood, that's my philosophy. Adding a bunch of crappy new characters is just going to further alienate longtime fans like myself. Why throw out such good characters that have never reached their true potential. New characters are not going to sell the next MK, the classic characters are.

They need to focus on important stuff like gameplay and fun factor as well as having a dark respectable feel rather than coming up with ridiculous shitbags that have polluted the last few games.

Here Here!! I completely agree! Perfect what you have before making new!! Thats why I dont think they should completely wipe the slate clean. They have shown us with the last couple games that they arent capable of delivering anything new with any real substance to it. The characters have been lame, the arenas have been lame, the only thing that has been great has been bringing back old characters and arenas.. That should tell you that wiping the slate clean isnt a good idea!

Dudes, please stop this senceless threads, that won't change anything. MK8 will start new, and as far as we know, only Sub Zero and Scorpion will POSSIBLY return.
All the other characters will be killed off, lost or simply forgotten about.
So stop this senceless lists of returning characters, because they are just "favourite character" lists.

In my opinion, not even Scorpion and Sub Zero should return.
Probably a new Sub Zero (a young Lin Kuei member, or member of the Zero family), would be cool. To continue the "Sub Zero in all MK games so far thing", and for Scorpion, well his son could take his place and so being a human version of the same warrior, or somehing like that. The Scorpion we know is just way to old, and his storyline is so fucked up that for his own sake, he should be cutted off.
