If sub-zero is a cyborg he will be a dlc or a secret character not part of the main selection, and cyrax will be included.

sub zero cyborg = cool

sub zero shredder = coolest

Sektor, Cyrax and Smoke were iffy to begin with. They really botched up the atmosphere of MK. I've come to accept them, but making my favorite character in their image would be like a kick in the balls.

The game's plot is Raiden makes a series of huge mistakes and kicks history in the balls, Butterfly Effect-style

So we fans really ought to expect to feel some of that testicular pain ourselves as we watch heroic and fan favorite characters get fucked over and changed, captured, or killed by Raiden's screw-ups.

I think people are taking this the wrong way.

If I am not mistaken, the phrase was "will become cybernetic". That does not imply "will become one of the Lin Kuei's Cyborgs.

PLUS, that could have been just an example and a tease to get people talking. If this is really a game for MK fans, do you think they are gonna just botch the subby we knew?

The implication of the statements seems to be that there will be a Subzero Cyborg.

HOWEVER, instead of thinking of that as a unique character... it may simply work out to being an alternate model/costume. Using 3D models it is a fairly simple task to create alternate models for characters, particularly alternate models based on other models that are already in the game.

So with Subzero you could have his regular ninja outfit, his MK3 version and a cyborg ninja version all explained by alternate timelines.

Similarly with Smoke, there could be a human version, a cyborg version and something akin the Armageddon version... all of which pretty much share the same mechanics and have fairly similar animations.

Eh, it's just going to be a shotgun blast styled retcon for so many things. The MK team is going to change a bunch of crap, see what fans like, see what they don't like, and then go from there.

I couldn't agree more. I've pretty much forced myself to accept the whole cyborg ninja thing. MK had a very mystical quality to it in the first two games that I really enjoyed. Starting with MK3 I feel that started to get lost. I can deal with Cyrax and Sektor (I'd rather not) but Cyber-Smoke just rubs me the wrong way and I doubt that will ever change.

To answer TortureLegend, people just assumed it would be the younger sub-zero brother because of the quote boon used saying that one character may be a cyborg who wasnt and people ran with that idea because of the Lin Kuei's past ninjas who were turned into cyborgs.
