I just don't get that after MK3(and the dreadful annihilation) that it's all of a sudden a rule that jax has to have his "enhancments" in every MK game now i know they're cool to look at,but why does he have to have them in each game? he hasn't always had them....well not in MK2 at least.so why not try giving him normal arms for once.It could show that he won't always need his so called bionic "enhancements".I think it would show alot for his character and that would make jax not seem like a wuss in comparison to the other fighters.I hope they at least have a secondary where has normal arms in the new MK(2011).OK now i'm ready for all the hate to come in.sad

Because it's part of the "black guy" stereotype of the early 90's. Alot of MK's characters are riddled with stereotypes. In a fun way most of the time though, so it's fine.

Dude that sounds slightly racist for one thing. And also i don't know why jax is all of a sudden worn by his metal arms...or at least it seems like it.And PLEASE take away the lame machine gun move.

I don't know. Removing his cybernetic implants seems like a surgery that would be hard to perform. To my knowledge they don't just slip off like that shitty movie. Secondly it's it is kind of iconic to that character and it makes him stand out. In MK2 there was nothing special about him except he was black. Each character had there own gimick and Jax doesn't really have one without the arms. Sure he is a soldier like Sonya, but it still seems a little plain compared to so many other stand out characters. If you like him without the arms that's cool, but I like him better with them.

Yeah please explain to me how giant cyborg arms are part of some sort of black stereotype, I'd love to hear it.
Jax was always supposed to have them. His original character design for MK1 was an African American boxer, in a yellow karate gi, with metal gloves, whose name was Kurtis Stryker. Pic can be found here

Whoa... Is that picture of Jax from Gamepro? I kind of remember that from a magazine... Talk about old school.

two things...

Metal arms aren't a black stereotype... no idea at all where that came from.

And Jax has his metal arms because he got them in MK3, and every game after MK3 is... after MK3! (Save maybe MK vs DCU, but who counts that as canon anyway?)

It's part of his character that he has Metal Arms now.
the only time he does not have metal arms is in alternate costumes.
And I don't know if they are just armour or actually integrated into his flesh like a true cyborg (this kinda changes around depending on who you talk to)

Oh I think I figured it out. After checking the MK wiki it turns out that in Deadly Alliance it was revealed that Jax's cyborg arms are constructed out of dried chicken bones, watermelon rines, and smelted 90's "gangsta rap" CD's.

I dunno why there's this little contingent of people who want the plain arms version of Jax so bad. He was so boring in MK2, the arms gave him pretty much his entire character.

Design wise, boring. I found him very fun to use in MK2, though.

The only difference in his moves between MK2 and MK3 is the shockwave instead of the missiles and no Rush Punch.

And I don't give a shit about the rush one way or the other, but the shockwave is way inferior to shooting two missiles at once.

That's all opinion. I find double missiles to be boring, and I think there's a lot they can do with both of those attacks that you're dismissing.

His ground pound could be a great pop up, and his rush punch could pass through projectiles or be a great distance closing move. I'd take either of those over a projectile..

I feel like we've had this conversation before and we both said the same stuff then that we're saying now.

The moves aren't even really important to the issue. The point is, the arms are an iconic, defining part of the character.

We certainly have. And I agree about the arms.
his doesnt alway have them. and your question is why does he have metal arms?" Because he considered himself a weakling, and felt like he wasnt good enough. he decided to make metal arms (sleeves) to enhance his fighting. Later in life he realized that he does not need them, because the true power comes from the heart.

Read the comics, bios, and watch the movies. It's all pretty much right there.

As a black man with metal arms I am highly offended by this thread.
