I always imagined either the Lin Kuei had sent him (in secret) after Sub-Zero II into Outworld to ensure he didn't screw up the Shang Tsung hit as his older brother had, or that Smoke chose to tail Sub on his own, watching his back from the shadows.

I would like to see Smoke come back, with both human and cyborg costumes. (one as the alt.) - whether he be a hidden / DLC / unlockable character.

On the other hand, if they aren't bringing back all the ninja, I would rather they included either Ermac or Rain (as long as Rain doesn't look like he did in Armageddon). I think Rain needs developing more.

That is an interesting fact... I'm still convince that Smoke, Noob Saibot, Jade and Rain will be playable in the game.

Pardon me for asking but, what was the reason reptile was in the pit?

In a recent video about the MK backgrounds (one of so many to come), it explained that after Shang Tsung ordered spikes be put in place on the pit stage in order to kill those who fell. As many were surviving. He also had Reptile appear at the pit bottom to finish off anyone that had survived the fall, interrelating to the (in)famous secret to fight Reptile at the pit bottom in MK1.

Uhh...that was already explained in Cyrax's MK3 ending.

Sub-Zero captures and reprograms him to go after Kahn instead of himself.

After Kahn is defeated and the invasion ends, Cyrax waits for new orders from the Lin Kuei but never gets any so he tries to return to HQ and gets lost and stranded in the desert.

Then the Special Forces find him and Jax repairs him and restores his humanity, which is why he joins them in Deadly Alliance.
