Subzero having a teleport in MKvsDC bothered me to no end. There's just nothing in the concept of cryomancy that could imply teleportation. Even Subzero's new intro animation bothers me a little. The teleport moves of characters like Raiden and Cyrax can be rationalized, even if there a bit of a stretch in the idea. Not Subzero, though. I can't even get my mind around it.

It bothered me too, a bit.
To be honest, I was never very fond of Kung Lao and some other characters having teleports, either. Kung Lao's the only guy it seems to have stuck with (outside of in-game moves), which seems a shame.
It doesn't seem appropriate to the make-up of either character.
Arbitrary teleports were a lot easier to stomach in the early days of technical limitations. You could say that about a lot of things MK.

NO!
It seems like they wanna give a teleport to every character out there. In MKA like half of the cast had a teleport.
If anything, they should make the current telporting characters (Sektor, Scorp, Kung Lao etc) a bit more useful. In later MK's only Raiden's was useful. Jade's teleport for example was so slow you had no point using it.

I agree. I've never like teleports for characters who don't have some mystical element to them. Raiden, Shang Tsung, Scorpion I can understand.
Sub-zero makes no sense even characters like Mileena, although her moves are now classic so it wouldn't make sense for her to lose that.
Never like jades or Kitana's either. Didn't make sense to me.

No, he shouldn't.
BUT...
... he should have his Ice Clone special back, that's one of the coolest moves in MK. It's such an MK-ish move, know what I mean?
AND...
... once he freezes the opponent in the air, he/she should fall down (with ice shattering) and not remain frozen in the air like there's no gravity.
BTW, love that Ice Stab move. Love it, love it, love it!

Gotta agree with most people. Sub-Zero having a teleport isn't suiting. All I can think of is Scorpion.

He opens a portal in his hand to shoot out ice
what's wrong with him opening a portal to move himself through?

No, he shouldn't. Ice immobilizes things.

I don't think he uses portals to conjure ice, but that he actually gather water from the air around him and turns it into ice which he hurls at his opponent.
If you have seen Mortal Kombat the movie, then you will know what I am talking about.
As to the whole Subbie being able to teleport... Well, it seems that every character of MK has their own version of teleportation and projectiles which is rather ridiculous. It would be nice if the MK team could come up with more creative ways to make the characters individual from one another instead of giving everyone of them the same moveset.

IMO nobody should have teleports besides Raiden, Kung Lao and Sektor. And Sektor's a stretch...how exactly do you disappear into binary code?

I think Sub-Zero's teleport makes a LITTLE sense if you think about it. He turns himself into ice and then all the little snowflakes or whatever travel to elsewhere on the screen and reform. I'm not saying it's a GREAT idea, it seems way too powerful for him, frankly...I'm just saying there IS an explanation.
And Sektor's works kinda like beaming up in Star Trek, I think. He turns his body into data and sends it somewhere else like a wi-fi signal, I dunno. I think the binary special effect looks awesome, though. I loved it when he first got it in Armageddon and I love it now.
Kung Lao's and Mileena's make the least sense, but I can believe them just using chi or magic to do whatever and break the laws of physics.

I thought his teleport looked awesome. With that said, no he shouldn't have a teleport, and neither should a lot of characters. Though, I do like how they are giving characters a lot more specials and variations to work with. It's less repetitive for those of us who focus more on specials than combos. I hate when people repeat the same move over and over, so having more variety and strategic options definitely helps. Now that we are on a 2D playing field, I would definitely like to see the return of the Ice Clone.

Kung Lao's teleport makes sense because he can throw a bladed hat and have it reappear on his head like it was magic.
and he can spin around like the Tasmanian Devil.
Far as I'm concerned, the teleport is just one of his special Shaolin magic powers.

Definitely not. It was a stupid move to give him one in the first place.
I don't know what it was with the latest games.. but by MKA everyone and their grandmother seemed to have one. Teleports are good for characters that they make sense for. Raiden, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Scorpion and even Shang Tsung... but not everyone.
Why did Jade and Kitana need teleports? What was the reason behind giving a teleport to both Sub-Zero and Frost?
So again, I vote no on Sub having a teleport. It just makes no sense at all.

No! I never understand why they gave him one. He's not the type of character you would expect to teleport. They make sense on the more magic based characters or the cyborgs but not Sub-Zero. He's the master of ice and should focus on that. Given his arsenal of moves he doesn't need a teleport.

Well he used to. Go have a look at MK1 & 2, a little portal opens up and the ice ball/shards shoot out.
In MK3 they got lazy and the shards just seemed to appear, looked very sloppy.
Then MK4, around the same time as the first movie, they used the water vapour to ice effect. Which is actually a really good idea.
It seems it's pretty much unanimous that no one likes Subby or anyone have a teleport without at least a somewhat reasonable explanation.

Sub Zero was already a balanced character.
Giving him a teleport and a freeze move(longer then Scorpions spear) seems unfair. He is already one of the strongest.
Add the fact he has the ground and ball freeze to mix it up as well, lil too much.

No, it's not necessary. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't his intro a teleport? That's okay, I don't mind that. But in gameplay, he shouldn't.

Rain's teleport made sense?
Wasn't it fitting for him to disappear in a puddle of water?

I've got no problem with Sub-Zero teleporting. MK is a game first and foremost, and so long as a move looks cool, has some actual use, and doesn't mess up game balance, I'm all for it.

Anyway, I do find some rational from sub zero teleporting becauseof his ability to manipulate water vapor and such, and it makes sense to me that he can use his power on his own atoms and dissipate into the air (which is where the vapor he collects comes from anyway). With that said, his "tag out" and intros do not bother me. I actually find them quite cool. I feel that the teleport could be excluded because the move is a bit overused, but if it is in, I wouldn't complain.
