Retro Cyborg Costume Renders

They look a bit funny I must say.
At least on the render armor looks like it was made form resin and they helmets are oddly elongated. But it maybe their poses on the render.
Overall I glad that NRS go so far as to make retrocostumes for the cyborgs.
Though I am a bit baffled by absence of the retrocostume for the Cyber Sub-Zero. I mean they gave one for Ermac and he never-ever was in MK1 to begin with. But I think it will be realeased later.

Ermac kinda was. In glitch form.

No. the MK3 part of story mode is still a disappointment to me and they're still hokey robot ninjas. As for their gameplay, I have nothing against that, except that Cyrax was kinda OP. unseenwombat Wrote:

It's not like they had no choice back when they made MK3. Plastic plates and that helmet was the best they could do in....1995 I think.
I hope they say Ketchup and Mustard in the life bars.
It's not the cheapness of the costumes that I'm so vehemently against, though that's retarded too. It's the concept of ROBOT F***ING NINJAS that is my problem. WTF happened to the MK team between 2 and 3 that turned MK from an awesome, spooky story about a mystical martial arts tournament that holds the fate of the world in the balance to a damn hokey, silly game for 10 year olds to giggle themselves to sleep over? unseenwombat Wrote:

I might have been able to get behind them if they had used the costumes from the art book that were like an organic-looking cyborg, but these metal can costumes are not doing it for me. I don't get why people think they look good (unless they were 10 when MK3 came out), but I'm sure they don't get why I think they look bad either, so whatever.

Mortal Kombat never had a spooky story to begin with. The entire series has been laughably hokey since the very beginning. For fuck's sake look at the source material, it's Enter the Dragon crossed with Big Trouble in Little China Town. So yeah, you are giving MK's setting and plot WAY too much credit. Cybernetic assassins fit perfectly fine into the series, especially in MK3 when the entire invasion took place back on Earth, and in a mostly urban environment.

Yay!!! These are still my favorite costumes for both Cyrax & Sektor :)

for classic costumes, they cant pa ymuch more tribute. But I wish the eyes or helmets themselves were sharper. the black part of the eyes look glazed over, thats really my only complaint.
Cant wait

I am so FUCKING HAPPY! I have been waiting for these costumes since they were leaked. FUCK YES. They better stay free.

I honestly think these look better than Cyrax's primary. He's just too god damned yellow, he looks like the Annihilation costume. And I'm not really fond of either of the cyborgs' helmets, the classic design is still best to me.
Also, I love how they took the black parts and made them tech-looking padding instead of plain spandex.
Still though...the only cyborg I ever really wanted was Smoke. Fucked again. Ah well, maybe by some miracle he'll be the mystery DLC.

These retro costumes are the best costumes Cyrax and Sektor have ever had!
For the first time ever, they actually look like imposing characters (i've always looked at them and regarded them as a joke to be honest)... never before have they actually looked dangerous until now!
Hoping to some eternal being that NRS do NOT do a retro cyborg skin for Smoke or Sub Zero... could be the only tragedy bigger than actually making them cyborgs to begin with...

Am I the only one who has known about these for months? Did anyone else see that video showing these?

It did too have a spooky story. MK1 was great. The only thing taken from Big Trouble Little China was Raiden's hat and lightning powers. That's IT. And Enter the Dragon is an awesome movie. It may have just been the shock value was still new, but the fatalities in MK1 actually looked painful, and were (sort of) believable. The spine rip always had me scratching my head, but I figured, "OK, he's a ninja. He's trained his whole life the technique of pulling off a head with the spine still attached. I'll suspend my disbelief." The other fatalities were the same, and the pit just looked brutal.
MK2 started to get silly with the friendships and babalities, but I could see why they did that with all the controversy over the first one. Fine. Also, Mileena's maneater fatality was a bit hokey, and the 3 head uppercut, which might have just been a glitch, IDK. The pit also looked great. Possibly the best in the entire series.
But then MK3 piled all kinds of stupid onto the series. They just said, "Hey people liked friendships! They were silly and stupid! Let's make the whole f***ing game silly and stupid and they'll love it even more!" So then we got a game made for 10 year olds with all kinds of stupid sh** and we got the Annihilation movie, also made for 10 year olds. And the pit just looked retarded.
Everyone gets how the movie was the stupidest thing to ever stupid, why don't they see the same about the game? I don't get it.
At least Human Smoke 4 Ever understands. I think we may be the only ones. Well, there's Bezou, I think, but he's not around lately.

They look good, I think much better than the retro human ninja costumes. I wish they used the UMK3 Ninjas for the retro looks. I miss UMK3 Reptile

Agreed. He reeks too much of Bumblebee from the Transformers movies.

It does look better than just ninjas with black spandex and motocross pads and a funky helmets look.
Still though...the only cyborg I ever really wanted was Smoke. Fucked again. Ah well, maybe by some miracle he'll be the mystery DLC.
If Cyber-Smoke becomes a DLC character I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Smoke pack per say. When the character comes with the MK1 skin and the purplish MK3 Cyber ninja skin. NRS are going to want to get as much mileage out of those skins as possible. I'm actually surprised we're getting a Blue version of the MK3 cybers costume [atleast not yet.]

If they gave them human heads and dark grey/ black armor it would be fucking epic looking. Armored ninja costume, just an idea though.

That's kind of their MK1 outfits in a sense. Their outfits did have pieces of armor on them. Foreshadowing their cybernetic future to a degree.
