For Mortal Kombat PS3 players we have a patch ready that solves the de-sync problems & are expecting it to be released the week of July 4 !
Note: There's already a fix for xbox

Thank god. Next they just need to work on the lag, I got my ass HANDED to me by a noob the other night because the fucking connection was so slow. The input on the controls seriously set me back with the lag, they need to work on that asap. There's times I get great connection, and other times when despite both players having a full signal it's incredibly slow. Gets a bit tedious.

And guess what, I'll bet anyone 10 billion real or internet dollars that the "patch" is optional. Every retard on the server is gonna just skip past it and we're still gonna have desyncs. And of course lag, even from people with a "solid" 4 dot connection. (What do those green dots mean anyway? I've never seen anyone with less than four dots, except when the glitch shows them with zero and 1000 wins, losses, and disconnects. Otherwise they're useless.)

I may be misremembering, it's been a long time, but when Soul Calibur 4 came out with their one and only patch, I had to download it to play.PSN doesn't force patches. Blame Sony.

in what way am I complaining? I'm the biggest fucking white knight on this board. Besides which, I'd personally never go unpatched and I'm on xbl.
psn allows you to skip patches, its that simple. You get the prompt, you say no, the game lets you play. It doesn't sign you out, it doesn't give you a warning, nothing. Some games have been written to address this, but its still the way the core system (psn) is designed.

I think I read something that Sony was eventually going to have some online hard drive space for you for patches and game saves. Still, I don't think that's happening yet, so I think there is some truth to the fact that some PS3s can't handle the patch because of hard drive space. I could be completely wrong though.

microsoft announced at e3 this year they're moving gamercards and save games to the "cloud". I don't believe Sony has any such plans.
Regardless, it wouldn't fix this issue. As long as the game runs locally on your system, your local system (hd) will need to be patched to keep up to date.
There is some "on the fly" tech being used by a couple companies (nrs included) for patching, but the results are still varied accross the consoles.
PSN stores this magical file locally, so after a change is made your console stores it forever (good)
Xbox does not, so if you boot the game offline it reverts to its original state. (bad)

So it really DOES boil down to lazy programming on the part of NRS. Thank you for confirming that. MKIceVsFire Wrote:
