I'm just hoping NRS doesn't end up making Smoke look like Sub-Zero, simply because they were both in the Lin Kuei. Hopefully, Smoke will be maskless.
Oddly, I've always imagined Smoke as a Latino dude. Kind of like this guy, only with hair:

I wouldn't call this talk about X-rays to be a rumor, just a hypothesis based on observations. The purple "shock waves" at her feet make me think that this is a new X-ray in the works. Obviously no bone-shattering moves are seen. However, all X-rays that we have seen so far use similar sound effects and animations with varying colors that are specific to the character. Enhanced specials use fainter effects, as seen with Sonya's double energy ring in the Mileena gameplay video. So it could be a new X-ray (work in progress), or just a completely new move that uses the same initial special effects.

Definitely take a long again man. Her mask is definitely moving up and down. Kitana's I mean. Mileena's, admittedly, is just a growl but Kitana is definitely talking.

Sorry, I don't mean to give the impression that I'm making a big deal out of whether Kitana's actually speaking. I want to make sure we're making the same observations:
You can click on this picture to view a larger resolution gif. I'm not noticing any independent jaw movement on Kitana that would indicate that she's speaking. From what I'm seeing, movement of her mask is due to her head following Mileena's position.
Click to see more details. Here, we know that she's saying, "You will learn respect." You can see her mouth causing her mask to stretch and warp. We should at least see similar warping in her mask in the previous scene if she's speaking to Mileena.
Anyway, Mileena backing up and hissing into her fighting stance might just be for a particular scene in story mode. At the same time, I don't think we can rule out the possibility of this scene depicting a new get-up animation just yet.
