Mileena's is interesting because it does give her a bit more depth and edge. She was created to be Kitana's twin, but we discover she's flawed, not just physically but mentally as well. She's crazy, immature, and unstable. Couple that with a life denied of a true childhood and nurturing upbringing (even if it was by Shao Kahn), and Mileena comes across far more sympathetic. She loves her father, but she's the "unfavored" daughter. She dresses and acts up for attention. She's vindictive and petty, like a young brat. As they said once in Cowboy Bebop, "Nothing is more cruel than that of a child".
She's not stupid, by far, but emotionally she's all over the charts. She wants love and attention, and she'll take whatever she can get. If Shao Kahn won't give it to her, fine, she'll take it from Baraka. If he won't give it to her, she'll disguise herself as her sister and try and replace her so that Sindel and the Edenia people would love her. If she doesn't get what she wants, she'll throw a tantrum and tear off a few faces to satiate her rage and anger. She'll go from dignified royalty to savage animal at the drop of a hat because she ultimately can't control her emotions because she's flawed, both in and out.
Good dynamic to work with.
We've gotten a lot of new info from the updated bios, whether it's the revelation of Sub-Zero's original codename, Tundra, the fact that Quan Chi resurrected Scorpion, or that Raiden himself helped create Mortal Kombat to protect Earthrealm.

^^ Love that analysis. I also love that you quoted Cowboy Bebop. I sent you a friend request btw! Did you get it?

Could not have explained any better.
With this new bio in play, and the plausibility of this analysis, I would not be surprised if Mileena became a good character in MKX.

question: do we have any footage or info about mileena's second fatality?
well nothing is written in stone yet but, as of right now, her second fatality is the same as Kira's in MKD. she throws both of her sais into the opponents feet, walks over casually, and then rips their torso off. if you search youtube hard enough you may be able to find it.

Personally, I have a tough time regarding her character as new information, just because it was already the logically inferred conclusion. We already had the information that told us that. I guess it's nice of them to come right out and say it, though.
shang created mileena but they never seem to have relationship in game or the endings.
Shang sends her a birthday card every year.
That's very thoughtful of him.
I like the "more child than adult" bit about her mental state. It's an intriguing new twist on or explanation for her personality traits that definitely goes well with the psychotic dancing and giggling we've seen her doing in the game.
I agree.
I also very much explains the odd tantrum she had in her and Kitana's endings in MKGold.
Well Kitana's exact words were "You have no right! You are not my sister! You were born of Shang Tsungs sorcery for Shao Kahn. What right do you have to the throne of Edenia?"
"You are evil and you have no place in this world!"
Pretty sure if someone said that to me I'd be pretty upset to just sayin.

This ancient thread being bumped reminds me of how much more open-minded I was back in the day. Now I'm sour about Mileena in MK9. Dont get me wrong, I like the idea of her being unstable to some extent, but it's the childlike nature of her and the fact that in the new timeline she was literally just created during the events of MK2 that I hate. It took all of the depth out of her and Kitana's relationship (or lack thereof in MK9). The fans had put this all together from the old timeline's lore and it was perfect.
Part of Mileena's instability could have stemmed from her tarkatan DNA, and part of it could have stemmed from her lifelong jealousy of Kitana; living her whole life comparing her freaky tarkatan face to Kitana's beauty, and the weight of her father figure viewing her as a disappointment might be enough alone. But throw in some overwhelming tarkatan impulses and you would see perfectly why Mileena is the way she is. Fans even justified her skimpy outfits as her coping with her insecurities; hide the imperfections (her face) and show off the part that is perfect (her body).
But no, MK9 decided that she's evil because she was evil and savage by design, and that she turned out exactly the way Kahn wanted her. She dresses skimpy because I guess the devs just thought it would be cool at the time to dress all the female characters that way. Man, MK9 isna great game, but the amount of bad retcons they made to the story far outweighs the good.

What did you think her portrayal in the MKX comic and game?
I didn't like how they made her such a bad leader and everyone wanted her dead or usurped.
