If you're talking how to finish off a pre-set combo with a special move, here's an example:

Sub-Zero has a 2, 2, 2 (back punch x3) pre-set combo.

Now to cancel that into his freeze projectile just do:

2, 2, d, f+3 (you need to press d, f+3 while the second "2" is hitting, you need to buffer it).

Try similar with other combos and special moves.

You can also cancel special moves, that's a bit more advanced.

SPECIAL MOVES can be canceled by dashing.

An example: Kitana's enhanced fan toss

d, f+1+block -> keep the button "1" (forward punch) pressed and perform a dash while you're holding the button. It will cancel out her second fan. You need to be quick though. After you cancel the second fan, the opponent will still be stunned from the first fan hit so you can continue to combo.

You can also use back+block. I've done that a couple of times with special moves of Kabal and Reptile, where they run really fast towards the opponent. Time the "cancel" right and you have yourself a very fast dash-move.
