Ed Boon wanted Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa for MK9?

Don't mean to ramble, but character portrayals were too off in that film for me to consider it even close to MK. Nina as a horny weakling? Christie as... something that's not even in any game? It's a good movie to watch if you're drunk, though.

Since when does Nina have a personality? I know she and Anna generically hate each other for no good reason in the games as opposed to being partners in the movie, but that's about it.
It did bug me that Christie was a white chick and had nothing to do with capoeira or Eddy, though.

Cary Tagawa should voice the entire cast and anyone who disagrees is objectively wrong.

Lol!
Really though that guy had the best performance in anything MK related in my opinion (although Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Kano in the first movie were fantastic).
But looking at the ever decreasing quality of MK's 'story mode' putting Tagawa in would be like resurrecting Marlon Brando to voice Optimums Prime.
That would have been amazing.
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was incredible as Shang Tsung. One of the best things of the movie.
He also said he was interested. I wonder why it didn't work out in the end? Was it money? I think Ed contacted him and all, but, maybe Tagawa was busy?
What was the reason?

If he really did want Tagawa so badly, why didn't he model the young Tsung after him? That would be a huge improvement over the young Tsung that's currently on display.
And I love saying "young Tsung" over and over.

That would have been sweet if they did

Her lack of a personality is a big part of her appeal. Tekken does have a pretty generic cast, but Nina has always been portrayed as the cold, deadly, efficient assassin for hire. Saying shit like "I like your boyfriend" and failing at everything but giving Kazuya orgasms is way off even for the game's generally shallow personalities.
Doesn't Tagawa have a Twitter? Maybe someone could try bringing this up and see what he's got to say?

Cary needs to lay off the caps lock.
I'm in touch with Tagawa frequently, and yes, he is fond of the caps lock. If he (most likely) weren't already cast for this incarnation, I would be able to put Boon in touch with him. Though I suspect that he has been able to get in touch but it was another matter altogether how he wasn't able to get him in the game.
