I don't know. Cyber-Kahn?

The ending kind of seems like a throw-back to the whole Reiko/Shao Kahn stuff from MK4. The best I can think of from a lack of better understanding, Sub-Zero's body is corrupted by Shao Kahn's soul, and as a result, Shao Kahn takes over Sub-Zero's cybernetic body to become a more powerful threat in the future. It kind of plays on how the cyborgs no longer have souls and only follow their programming, so a soulless body, plus a soul as powerful of Shao Kahn's, equals a space-for-rent sign with Shao Kahn as a new owner of prime real estate.

I found it quite a cool look, but not an addiction I'd like permanently.

My guess is the guy who did the voice went home before they realized they forgot an ending.

Well it's pretty obvious...Sub-Zero is the Lich King now and that sets up for the next MK game, MKvsWarCraft.

Never realized Ner'zhul's/Arthas' soul combined into Sub-Zero's, as well as him having the Frostmourne. Hardy har har
Anyways, despite that there's no narration for this ending, and that most are believing that the arcade endings will most likely NOT effect any character for the next game, let's just say that the soul of Kahn's just fused in with Cyber's and somehow upgraded his armor to look like a really evil nasty sonofabtich.

It's rather obvious; CSZ becomes Cyber Shao Kahn. I like to think of it as a jab at the "OMG CYBERERMAC, CYBERREPTILE, CYBERSCORPION, CYBERJOHNNYCAGE, CYBERRAIDEN, CYBERKITANA!" crowd, even though I know better than that, as all those characters might likely appear somewhere down the road.

I thought Cyber Kahn looked terrible.
Also, I think they sort of made it clear that the Cyborgs still have their souls:
Nightwolf chapter (to (Cyber) Sub-Zero):
-"Leave now! Your soul is not safe."

In the old Timeline, the Cyborgs went undetected by Kahn's forces because they were soulless assassins.
Another reason to dislike this timeline, for me.....
Cyber Sub-Zero was not a last minute addition, he was brought up by Ed Boon in last year's E3 ("Some one will get automated who wasn't before"). Its also absurd to think he'd have a whole story mode chapter if he was just tacked on at the last minute: that type of thing requires planning.
I think they were trying to be ominous by giving CSZ's ending no narration: what happens doesn't really need words to get the point across and was given a surrealistic look and feel. They missed the mark though, seeing as so many people just assume it was an oversight.

I really like that they still have their souls. I think it really adds to the feeling of, "oh, man, that really sucks, they're prisoners in their own bodies." They are being controlled by the Lin Kuei; they are mindless husks, robbed of their free will whose only purpose is to serve their masters, it's sad, really. That is what makes Sub-Zero's "awakening" so much more satisfying, he even calls himself an abomination.

I loved the ending. At first I thought it was Onaga but it was Cyber Kahn.

I think Cyber Sub-Zero's ending was the last one added to the game. That's why it lacks narration. Kinda like Mokap.

Quote for truth. It would just feel weird that NRS would've run out of time to add CSZ voice-over. Remember that all the endings, biographies and story mode lines were leaked months before release - perhaps NRS predicted this to happen and wanted to have at least one ending without text files to keep it mysterious until the launch day.

I actually don't think this is a retcon. I think the cyborgs always still had their souls they were just trapped inside of them. And whenever a cyborg reclaimed his free will than his soul was brought back too. That's what I think happened with Sub-Zero and Cyrax in the original timeline.
In Cyber Sub-Zero's chapter he even says "My soul was corrupted." Makes me think the automation process did something to his soul.
