And I am not referring to the characters that are post-MK Trilogy, but characters that have been mentioned or made concept art of, but who never made it into any of the games as playable characters.
So-called rumoured characters, if you will, such as Skarlett which is a perfect example on a rumoured character appearing in the new MK game - though we have yet to have confirmed if it is indeed Skarlett and if she will be playable or not.

Which of those characters would you like to make some sort of of appearance into the new Mortal Kombat?

A personal favourite of mine was shown as a concept art unlockable in The Krypt of MKDA... Baphomet! I like the idea of having an actual demonic character that actually looks like a demon as well. Characters like Noob, Quan Chi, Sareena, Moloch, Drahmin... they don't have that demonic vibe about them, as in classic demons.

You can see the concept art of him here:

Another concept I find interesting is the female character you see here:

She looks rather unique and I love her exotic appearance, somewhat like a tribal warrior or japanese shrine maiden of sorts.

More concept art of unused characters can be found here:
http://www.mksecrets.net/mkda/eng/mkda-dev.php

If you could choose an unused character concept to appear in the new MK who would it be and why?

The one concept character that really blew me away was the one with the screws through his wrists and eyes and used the rage towards his enemies. Somewhere in the MKDA Krypt.

That character would be insane...

Most definitely the Male Vampire.

I feel he has an interesting look and a very unique hair color fro an MK character. Not to mention his story potential is practically through the roof. He could help set up for Nitara's story, while serving Shao Kahn either as a 'minion' and does his bidding. If he was under Kahn's control I'd imagine Kahn using him to turn his foes in vampire slaves or just draining the blood and killing them. As a setup for Nitara's story, he could aid her by initially serving Kahn to get close enough to find out where he hid the orb.

If he was used as more a setup for the Vaeternus/Nitara story, I see him being similar to Nitara in his deceptive ways and intelligence, but I think he should be a little more cocky.

OR, he could not be associated with Nitara at all and could give two shits about freeing Vaeternus and start to pursue his own goals while using the invasion as his chance to start his rise. Or just wants be rid his association of Vaeternus just for fun and because he sees Outworld as something more.

His move set may seem limitled at first glance, ut there are ways to spice them up.

I dunno, just something fun to think about, I suppose.

"This character is a tormented soul whose body was a cage of unending pain, which would be redirected against his opponent in a berserking fury. The screws in the eye sockets and wrists exaggerated his look of agony."

^^^THIS GUY^^^

I call him "Mr. Badass"

Note: The upper chest/collar of his armor looks like Onaga's skull and the shape of his sash looks like a dragon flapping its wings directly down. My guess is he was a prisoner of Onaga, perhaps somebody who betrayed him and was cought....

I'd LOVE Mr. Badass to make it some day.

Mr.Badass should have been the design for Drahmin.

EDIT: Does anyone remember this little number that was thought to be an early Onaga design?

Shit was fucking badass. I'd love to see it make a comeback in some way.

cool thread. I for one would like to see the take on shang tsung as a demon. I think there is room to make him a demon and not screw things up. I can't find the artwork though. Not sure if anyone has it.glasseswink

Love this threa!

Long ago, I read in a Gamepro magazine about some kombatants that did not make the final cut in MK2; I would love some of these ideas to appear in the game.

Female Kickboxer

In MK2, a female kombatant (brunette in pink) based on a kickboxer Kathy Long was cut due to time constraints; Tobias thought she was noble. Why was she never in later games? She looked great!

In this issue, they revealed that Kintaro originated as player kombatant before becoming a klone of Goro AND a bald, masked fighter with hookswords evolved into Baraka.

In MK1, Rokuro was supposed to be an oriental barbarian kombatant who evolved into Goro. Also from MK1, unused names include Michael Grimm (Johnny Cage), Yosh!tsune Minamoto (Liu Kang) and Tundra (Sub Zero)..

These ideas should fit in a reamke of MKs 1 through 3.

Indeed, "Mr. Badass" looks badass, and so does that huge guy T-rex posted. It's kinda too bad that the MK team haven't made use of these characters one way or another. They look rather cool, in my opinion.

I don't think I've ever even seen this before.

I'm inclined to believe it's from a completely different game, or art from a tabletop RPG like Warhammer or something.

I think it would be funny if that rumored "Aquilluxborg Hydroxybot" ninja from Mortal Kombat Trilogy was in the game. grin

This character named shit never made it into mortal kombat. It was so secret Nrs kept it as a secret and never released artwork or sketches for it. Till this day Nrs has nothing to mention about this "secret" character.wgrin

For all I know,it probably is.

I do seem to vaguely recall that right around the time of Deception's release, this concept art found its way on MKO,and we all went apeshit trying to figure out what it was supposed to be. That's why I have this thing in the first place.

In fact,I seem to recall that it was eventually revealed to be a fake that had nothing to do with MK,but I'm pretty fuzzy on the details.

Shit's still awesome,though.

If I felt better and actually cared about looking for the picture, which I'm sure you can easily find on mksecrets.com, there's a picture of a female character with a giant bow on the back of her and there were palette swaps of her as well.

I thought it was an interest concept, one that made the girl look decent enough.
