I believe it was said that two people on the same console could play online tag team with two other people who are also sharing a console. Has it been confirmed if four people with four different consoles can assemble teams online?

The reason why I'm skeptical that this will be possible is because most of the time, fighting games only involve a connection between two consoles. Wouldn't four consoles trying to actively communicate at the same time be a lag nightmare?

I am amazed that nobody suggested that the tag system be that BOTH players have to hit the tag button to make the switch.

This would be very difficult to synchronize, imo.
Which is why I believe a tag request feature would fulfill this duty.
So the guy who's out can attempt a tag, to basically let the guy who's in know he wants to be tagged in.
Kinda like in tag team wrestling, when the guy who's out, is reaching to be tagged in.

Also this would help to eliminate the problem of the out guy, repeatedly tagging himself in.

But yeah, It doesn't bother me THAT much if you can't team up with online players. Since my teammate would likely be on the same console.
Even still, it would be nice.

Nah, screw all that. This is fighting games! You just have to be ready. The person playing (and only that person) controls the tag, assists, etc. and when you come in you better be prepared to finish combos, keep pressure, and all that. It's not instantaneous anyway. There are enough visual cues during a tag to know when it's your turn to play.

Ever play Cross Fever Mode in the original Marvel vs. Capcom on the Dreamcast? Just like that except with a 3 player option and online.

I hope all those combinations will be doable. I guess I'd be a little more forgiving with more than two different consoles since those connections will probably be harder to manage. But with only two consoles? You should be able to organize teams however you want.

I'm sorry that to some people I look like a dick-headed asshole, but what I'm trying to say is that there would be too many problems with such a mode. It's rather difficult to explain, but just think about it.
