Her gameplay looked really good imo. I think they did a good job at capturing her character in her fighting style and movements.
Her appearance, however, is underwhelming. When I first saw her trailer, I immediately thought to myself: "Dark Elf!" She looks like her name should be Alleria Swiftwind or something. Now I really don't mind the dead Revenant skin; I think that's cool to have as an option for her. The problem was the costume. It's very much like one of those fantastical Soul Calibur armor sets. It works for Soul Calibur, but I don't want it in my Mortal Kombat game. It's also reminiscent of some futuristic Injustice costumes. And there's even a resemblance to Injustice 1 Scorpion, which I did not like. Jade's default costume is too.. how to describe this? It looks too much like something that was drawn by a fantasy artist. It's not very real, or realistic, or functional. It isn't character specific enough, but just a typical style that many artists come up with when drawing fantasy characters wearing fantasy armor. That's why she looks like a Dark Elf, instead of looking like Jade. If you look closely at her default costume, you even get a sense of leaves, nerves and thorns, being used as patterns and shapes in her clothing. It really looks like something that a forest fantasy character would wear.
The hooded costume is somewhat better, but isn't very good either. Any hood will look cool, but again, it has this woodland vibe to it, and I honestly don't understand why they designed her like this. The third costume was similar to the second, only more boring. None of these approach what Jade is, to my mind at least. But I've always had problems with some of NRS's design choices. I bet you some artist over there made some killer concept art for Jade, but whoever's in charge of deciding what makes it in the actual game, has poor taste, and this has been the case ever since MKX. They either knock it out of the park, or they give us these completely out of touch costumes. I could write a book on this topic...
