Jax is in an unfortunate spot of being the fifth military character announced for the second straight game. It’s also hard to have new characters stand on their own when their parents, who are all iconic in the series, are there as well.

I think Jax will be a fun character. I think they’ll find ways to make him distinct and fun to use and while I’d prefer Sareena, Fujin, Kai, Reiko, Nitara, Navado, Kira, Tasia etc, I’ve come to accept the fact that what I want and what the larger fan base wants aren’t always in sync.

Jax is a staple character just as many others are. So while I’d love to see him, Sonya, Cage, Kano and others take a game off, I think we might as well concentrate on what we’d like to see from this character, since he’s almost assuredly in. Personally, I want a throw heavy grappling monster that doesn’t have a bunch of bizarre direction and button presses to perform cool moves.
