I don't like Jacqui, but I am willing to give any character a chance to be properly developed, even Hsu Hao. I could see if they filled the roster with mostly MK1&2 characters again in lieu of all others, like they did with MKX, but this isn't the case. This is them bringing back most of the new characters from the previous game, which is something they have NEVER done.

They are actually developing their characters and not throwing them out just because some fans didn't like them that one time. It's what they should be doing. Keep your selfishness to yourself, and let these characters get proper development.

if there is no Jax, Kenshi and/or Ermac, Noob Saibot, i will be very sad. also i think fighters like Fujin, Reiko, Havik should appear in the roster, they deserve it.

in the achievements list there is no Kitana or Johnny Cage, but on some videos i saw in the menu there was in the pics Kano and Kitana both. Kano already confirmed, Kitana will be definitely in. not sure about Johnny Cage... i hate him in MK9, but love him in MKX, so i would like to see him there, but his older self :)

if there is Cassie and Jacqui, why not Takeda and Jin?

i hope the DLCs will be classical missing fighters later on, but there will be some guest characters taking the spots as in MKX :(

The worst thing for me is that Ed Boon said those lies, and then gives some of the least fan favorites of all time like Kano and Jacquiline Briggs.

These are 28 characters with some who are likely to make it (as DLC) due to leaks and strong hints, though unsure in Shang Tsung, Noob, Rain & Jax. Some could be secret characters, which Smoke still has a chance to be you'd figure. There's also the possibility of Kung Jin & Takeda returning and maybe a surprise 3D character like a Fujin, Shinnok or good old Kenshi. Kronika as unlockable is also still in play.

This means for the roster (including DLC) you could have around 6-10 characters you haven't played with in at least 8 years, to me that's as good as new, 3-4 new ones, with around 13-16 returnees from MKX who all seem to be improved in terms of looks and play style.

Think positive everyone and realise there's a possibility the roster is bigger than 25 from the start and we have 3 characters we don't really know about as they are highly likely totally new as well as some roster slots left to be filled that we can still speculate on.

there was a leak that mentioned NRS was being smart about hiding roster spots by informing some people of different characters to see which were leaked.

I could see NRS having different 25 spot builds of the game for play testers and the like so that any leaked information is never fully accurate and they could strategically debunk leaks by introducing a character that was not part of the leaked “build”.

This is kind of wishful thinking but NRS was so good about keeping mk11 a secret this time I am not putting anything past them.

These threads are proof positive that fans who don't want to be happy will never, ever be happy. I'm willing to wager that even if the roster included all of their top 20 favorites, there will be at least two or three characters they despise so much that having those instead of their 21st favorite will ruin the game for them.

Take an inventory of which characters the angriest fans around here want to see most, and you'll quickly notice that one person's dream roster is another person's nightmare roster. Even Fujin is a bit of a toss-up, sometimes.

Getting every character you want is an unreasonable expectation. Even if you're one of the developers. Even if you're Ed Boon. They make internal compromises for the roster all the time.

I'm not going to suggest that everyone should "just be happy" with whatever selection we get. Some people are constitutionally incapable of doing so, and therefore this is also unreasonable to expect. I just want to throw it out there that when Boon & Friends say they're listening to the fans, that does indeed include people just like you. But to a significant extent, everyone is asking for different things.

The most hotly requested characters are likely to be DLC, I'm guessing. It's a smart way to upsell the extras. And I'm also wondering who all might be on the "secret" roster.

I'm honestly not even mad at this roster. Some solid inclusions here and there along with new and old favorites and hell, even seemingly a 3d character that's not Kenshi!?

I had wished Shang Tsung and Havik would make it, but who knows, maybe they'll be DLC.

Only 2 male ninjas(Scorp and Sub)? What is this MK3? The ninja characters have always been my favourite part of any Mortal Kombat , so here is hoping that atleast we will get to see them as DLC.

I think it's a safe bet that the last 2 spots MUST be Noob and Rain or Noob and Shang Tsung.

Sounds like a great roster. All the returneed from MKX are the safest options they could've made, but then we get someone like Frost (who I wa hoping wouldn't get anywhere near this game) being the 3D era representative over Kenshi or Quan Chi and I'm like, what? It's an interesting addition. My 2nd and 3rd favorite characters (Kenshi and Jax) are probably not in but I can live with that, also sad at Tanya being removed, but it's nice to have Jade back.

Overall I'm quite happy with what the roster is shaping up to be.

I think the roster as a whole is irrelevent for most fans. It is the whether their favourite character(s) are playable or not as the deciding factor in whether they deem the roster good or not. It is also exacerbated when the same fans see characters they do not like getting in.

Well, to be honest. They have guts! I thought they would choose the safe decision and throw some familiar faces in. But it seems i was wrong. Now the found an interesting mix of old and new faces. Ib give them the chancxe, because i think many old faces will be delivered as DLC and they try to tell a bigger story which develope further from each MK game.

Sure, i am also a little bit disappointed that Jacqui is in because i could mean that Sektor is out. Even if it works in MKX i don't think they would do it a second time. But the roster isn't bad and i hope they do a good job with Frost and make her more unique.

Frost would certainly be a surprising pic. I don't see the appeal there but would be happy to be shown why there is an appeal for Frost.

I am not picky about the roster in general. I love a lot of the characters and only dislike a few. I would be surprised if this ended up being accurate though.

This was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw TER. I think Terra / Forr is fucking horrible name but I loved Ferra / Torr in MKX and would be super pumped to see that character make it back into the roster in some way. This is probably just hopeful thinking on my part.

The Steam achievements don't list Geras or Kahn, though the latter is likely due to being DLC. So there's still a few characters missing.

Mick did point out that Erron Black's files in X were originally labeled Nomad, so there's a possibility, though I wouldn't count on it, that one of the 3 newcomers may just be an earlier working title for Geras. So if that's the case, and depending on whether Kahn is number 25 or 26, I'd say conservatively we're looking at 3 more at minimum, maybe 4-5 max, if we're that lucky. Unless the roster is actually bigger than they're letting on.

Jacqui instantaneously brings down the quality of the roster. She has zero redeeming qualities, and in fact, she’s probably the worst female character ever. Seriously, who the fuck asked for her inclusion? Did Ed Boon lose a bet with someone? That’s the only way it makes sense that she’s there. A complete waste of a spot. I’d rather have Fujin over her; and you guys know how much I hate Fujin. Anyone but that leper Jacqui.

Out of all these characters the only ones I find a bit bland are Kano, Sonya and Jacqui . However I do see the story/heritage importance of Sonya and Kano, would prefer either Kung Jin or Takeda over Jacqui, but oh well..

This said ,I am SOOOOOO pumped to see:

-All out battle between Kotal and Shao for the title of Kahn of Outworld.

-Frost learning to use her ice-powers, possibly challenging Sub-Zero for the title Grand Master, or attempting to steal the dragon medallion once again

Liu and Kung Lao's redemption and possible fight between Liu and Raiden

Kitana and Jade reunion, upon Jade realising Kitana has fallen to ''empress of the dead'' status.

Erron Black's significance and relevance to this story.

With how impressed I am with Geras I CANNOT wait to see the 3 unrevealed new characters.

While I am a proud member of the Jaci Briggs sucks club, given how Skarlet is essentially a completey redesigned character, I will give NRS the benefit of the doubt and see what they come up with.

I'm actually curious about Jacqui, maybe she has plant powers now, to piss Direcccctthitwhatever off, he hates special powers!

Jade being the only Edenian (probably) (Kitana being a revenant) is a bit strange in my opinion...
