I think they gave that area of Edenia an official name in the character bios but I'm not about to start sifting through what characters got bios and then reading those lengthy things to find that little bit of information.

ANYWAY... back on topic...

Since other folks mentioned the idea that Kronika wants Armageddon... I got to thinking. I would actually love it... if Kronika was revealed to be behind the Armageddon prophecy, and the whole thing turned out to be a lie. Because honestly, I think they need to undo that prophecy.

It's been an elephant in the room ever since the reboot, because THEORETICALLY Blaze, Taven & Daegon should still be out there in the new timeline, and THEORETICALLY the new timeline should again reach a boiling point that requires Blaze to go full-apocalypse. The only requirement seemed to be "a whole lot of powerful fighters" and since death stops seemingly no one from being a powerful fighter in the Mortal Kombat universe, even if we kill characters off, we should inevitably reach that point of excess again (especially since the new timeline has introduced at least like what, 12-13 brand new powerful fighters?)

If it turned out the whole thing was a lie set in motion by Kronika, we could better ignore the idea that it needs to happen again.

Since I doubt their ultimate goal is to revist the old timeline, that would then allow them to merge whatever elements they want to merge in the wacky time-travel story of MK11, but ultimately forge a new, Armageddon-free path in MK12 and beyond.

ALL THAT SAID... I doubt they've put that amount of thought into the plot, because they usually don't seem to. Every game we nerds speculating on the forums seems to set our theories and expectations much higher than the actual game delivers, lol. (I don't mean that as a shot, because the games are still ultimately pretty well crafted and fun, I just think we as fans... often set expectations that are... far too lofty considering the game still has to get done on time and appeal to casuals.)

I really get the feeling they won't have many, if any cameos from characters who aren't playable after the mountain of salt they got for doing it in X.

I'm not trying to hate or anything, but I think the special forces characters are too numerous in this game.
They contain 1/5 th of the start roster for pete's sake..Just 1 more ninja or cyborg could make me very happy in addition to Noob Saibot. It's almost like they know people will be buying the DLC because they contain more populair characters than the main roster.

This is starting too look more like Mk special forces II instead of MK11

I agree but that's a long post for another day. It is looking more and more like Call of MK with so much emphasis on the military characters.

I am a little bothered by how much attention Cage and Sonya receive in this time line....

I mean I get it, people probably got sick of Liu Kang being the hero....... but he was already killed off once during DA and was "evil" in a sense during MKD and MKA. I'm already at the point where I am sick of Johnny Cage (and his family) being the center of attention in terms of the main heroes.

The comic relief character is NOT MEANT to be the primary protagonist in a story. At least not in my eyes. Just imagine if in Star Wars they decided that C3PO or Jar-Jar ... OH YOU GET THE POINT!!

They've already confirmed there will be cameos.

The salt they got was for the cameos who were fightable but not playable. They said they probably won't do that again. (And to my knowledge, they never even firmly stated they won't do that again, they just implied they probably won't do that again, and fans wrote it down as law, right under "No repeat DLC ever!")

FUN FACT: Johnny Cage was originally meant to be the hero of the series.

If you don't pre-order... that's what Shao Kahn will be: a character featured and fightable in the story, but locked behind a paywall (DLC) as a playable character.

I know that... but that was before it was even going to be called MK... and to get technical, it wasn't Johnny Cage. It was going to be JCVD. So in other words, he was going to be the hero before they decided to make him a goofy character like he is now.

People weren't angry about Goro. People were angry about Rain, Baraka, Sindel and Tanya (initially) being semi-functional characters that weren't playable. Paywall or no paywall.

In any event yes, Kronika's name is absolutely a reference to Chronos and/or the other time deities/concepts.

Well like it or not, Johnny Cage being a comic relief character obviously doesn't mean a damn thing. At the end of the day- POPULARITY is what makes the world go round and the Cage family has that in spades. I'd be willing to wager Liu Kang's fanbase is nowhere near as huge as Johnny's and certainly not Sonya's.

Though part of that may also be due to Liu Kang's chaotic treatment since Deadly Alliance. He's been the Champion, The Murdered Hero, The Zombie, A Spirit, Alive again, Dead again, The Undead Emperor Of The Netherrealm - who knows where he'll be after the events of this game- something tells me Young Liu Kang will stay around and become this timeline's main Liu- but even then I don't see Liu Kang ever truly going back to the hero role.

I think NRS finds hero Liu Kang pretty dull. I can't argue with them there- I myself is pretty fond of the darker Liu Kangs we've been having since Deception.

I just started playing the Mortal Kombat X story mode. I cant wait for the MK11 story mode!

I guess that's what they call food (looks like some giant spidercave or something, like MKX's The Krypt)
