I was under that same impression. You don't have to look further than her MKX Default costume to see that influence.

That aside though, Kitana is not Asian or American or Latina... She's Edenian. So saying that they messed with her race (as posted above these posts) doesn't really make sense. Kitana, as a character, is not any race found on earth because she's not from Earth at all.

That being said, About the TV spot:

I think this is wonderfully done. Everything about this spot is perfection. Also LOVING how Kitana looks. That move she pulled when she avoided Scorp's spear... I wonder if that's going to be an actual move of hers where she can avoid projectiles. I hope so, as I think it would fit the agile/graceful aspect of her character quite nicely.

Kitana is always Asian inspired.. that's been obvious. It was only that she was an American actress in the original games which is why she looked the way she did.

Hait to tell you.. she's actually an Edenian - so if you have a problem with Asian people, can't imagine how you would feel about her being a race of another realm altogether

Kitana looks AMAZING. I didn't think she could look any better than she did in MKX but boy do I think MK11 will give it a run for its money.

They have truly perfected Kitana in the PS4 era. These are some of the most intricate and wonderful designs she's ever had.

Absolutely agree. Personally, especially if you’re a big fan of Kitana, I see nothing to dislike here. Honestly she’s never looked better.

I think them keeping her under wraps for so long was worth it. It has boosted my hype for this game even more.

I agree. I'm all about debates when they're relevant, but Kitana is Edenian, thus her look is malleable if we're being honest. Do any of us know the ethnicities within Edenia? No.

Well I actually kinda like this costume now. I really like the back of her top and her boots.

My complaints:

The eyebrow lines, Kitana should not have any lines on her face.

The bun, I know it’s kind of one of her signature things, but couldn’t they have done something a little more interesting with her hair, like a bun with a ponytail. Hopefully her other costumes will have cooler hairstyles. Her hairstyle in her MKX primary was awesome!

The headband I could take it or leave it.

Same. I think you said it best, in another reply, when you said “They saved the best for last”. These last few characters: Kitana, D’Vorah and Frost are probably all going to be spectacular and that’s why they waited so long to showcase them. Especially where D’Vorah is concerned because she was revealed way back when Kano was.

I’m looking forward to this weeks kast, more so than any of the others so far.

I prefer Kitana's appearance in MKDA or MKG but I don't have any problem with her looking Asian at all, she's still gorgeous. Besides, she already looked kinda Asian in MKDC and MKX, it just wasn't that obvious due to less detailed graphics perhaps. Why are people reacting as if it's something new? I also love her costume, it suits her well but I don't see any similarity with her classic costumes as mentioned by some people here.

Wow, definitely sounds like him there. Good catch. Gotta say I really wouldn’t mind if Styker was in the game (even as DLC). After MK9, I grew to like Stryker and how he played. Perhaps we will see him. After all Cena is pretty much perfect casting.

@August: I would love a skin for Kitana that closely resembles her MKX primary. That look is all kinds of awesome.

Her MKX primary was great but I would also like some older Kitana's costumes to return. Particularly the ones from MKDA and that black outfit she was supposed to get in MK4.

No she didn't. And the "less detailed graphics" had nothing to do with it, Liu Kang looked unmistakenly asian in both.

They change her race, she always has been like a latin girl in all games and movies. This does not have to happen.
