Another MK and still no word on Motaro. I posted this exact topic when MKX was announced. Many stated that his body would be too complicated to add to modern gameplay. I guess we'll have to wait for Playstation 9 and XBox-Pi R Square so they can get their shit together. And please not another MK:A minotaur crap. Go back to what he was, a respectable sub-boss from the classics.
...
Motaro died in MK9. Raiden killed him. Case closed... unless they make him the preorder bonus for MK12. lol

If by "dying" you mean Raiden simply "torpedo" him into the water then that would be a sad excuse to never reintroduce him to the franchise.

Yeah he is long overdue. No reason they can’t do him
...
Personally, I don't care about Motaro. Even Molock's more interesting, and unfortunately died offscreen.
The horse got torpedoed, electrocuted and drowned. I guess all Outworlders enjoyed his meat, his bones fed the dogs, and his skin became boots and belts for the fighters in mkx and mk11.
So in a certain way he will be in mk11... as gear pieces. ha ha
Wait for the engines to get better (and easier). Then he will be back. Lol
Motaro's return would be cool and all, but the only way I can see it happening is him being a non-playable sub boss. He'd be too awkward to control as a playable fighter otherwise, and nobody wants that dogshit bipedal design Boon and co. saddled him with in MKA.

Motaro could probably be done now that the series switched back to a 2D perspective. I don’t really find him all that interesting, but if you do, then more power to ya.
He would probably be too difficult to do with the whole X-Ray thing.
Oh yeah, totally sub boss only territory.
There was literally a scene in MK9 where Shao Kahn and Sindel were standing over his corpse, so in canon, Motaro is dead.
It's very unlikely they will bring him back, but you never know.
Well Motaro isn't the only centaur in existence. There's a reason the centaurians were part of Kahn's Extermination Squad not just for shits and giggles.
My guess is if you don't even hear from him in this game, then they probably keep him dead forever. Centaurs are a fun mythological idea, but as a boss Motaro was horrible. His playable self was even worse, so sorry if you like him, but I can totally understand why they don't bring him back. Look at Goro, they tried to make it work for MKX, but they failed. It's just not easy to have someone with 4 arms, let alone 4 legs to work well. The mechanics and things they'd have to do to make that work, I mean a lot of combos, ality and Xrays would need to be adjusted just for one character, that's just too much to ask.
Even for a franchise with a history of larger than life characters, Motaro is cumbersome as all hell. If he ever does return, I highly doubt he’ll be playable. But then again, this is the same team that told their writers not to include Goro in MKX’ story because they couldn’t make him work...only to turn around and make him work after all was said and done. NRS has always been funny like that.
I agree with what's been said already. Him returning as a sub boss only. Way to awkward as a playable character but I always loved Motaro and would love to see his return!
The only way Motaro would work is if he was immune to X-Rays and throws, and either didn't allow Fatalities / Brutalities or had a few unique ones that all characters could perform on him. The first two would make him too OP for online play, but it might be possible to make him a sub-boss that could also be used as a fun single player only character, maybe allow him in local two player matches.
There you go, finding a hidden advantage in an unfortunate circumstance; using pain to take you to the next level. Those are the things that turn players into kings.

mk is like comic books nobody stays dead forever. look at liu kang from deadly alliance to deception and now mk x where he and kitana run the neather realm . this is why i feel like they need to fix there canon and have a legit one because if i recall shao khan is dead as well when deadly alliance took place

After Armageddon Raiden sent a message back in time to the time of MK1, which reset the timeline from that point forward. That's why the events of MKX don't match up with the events of MK4, Deadly Alliance, and Deception.
@illu§ion
Kintaro is way more interesting and much more possible to make a return over Motaro I believe
hey
I think Motaro is a realy cool character; he really creeped me out as a kid playing Mortal Kombat 3. He was always a lot scarier and more evil looking than Goro and Kintaro in my opinion. I do believe that if they wanted, they could get Motaro to work. However, I do think it would take more effort than they are willing to put in for the character; he's not exactly a fan favorite and his design is completely unique, so it would be a lot of effort for just one character. I think in Mortal Kombat 2011's story when he met his demise out in the background, that was the last we'll see of him. I don't think they're pretending he doesn't exist, bur rather they acknowledged his existance, killed him off, and left him dead. But if they decide to put in the effort and have him resurrected somehow, I would be very happy.
Never shake hands with a man who wears his heart on his sleeve.
How do you make him, ahh... crouch?
Figure that one out and you've solved about 5% of his problems. Another 10% if you can demonstrate how a normal dude can punch him in the head without standing on a box.
Motaro doesn't work as a fighter, playable or otherwise, now that the series has much more elaborate fight animations -- unless you nerf out every move that tackles, spins around, trips, juggles, gets behind, or otherwise moves Motaro or moves you around Motaro. Basically your moveset will have time traveled back to MK3, the only game where Motaro could actually work (not because he could even do much of anything, just because he was cheap).
The alternative to nerfing your entire moveset is to do what they did in Armageddon and cut off the whole back part of the horse, which is where the balls are, and we know how everyone seems to feel about that.
Really he ought to have had a larger presence in MK9 before they killed him off. Show how big of a boss he would have been if Raiden hadn't torpedoed him straight to the glue factory, and send him off in a real high-impact fight scene. Second missed opportunity: I really wish Quan Chi had come riding in on a Revenant Motaro in the Netherrealm ambush scene, if not his fight intro. Add the old Centaur to the collection, with Moloch. Enough people like the character, myself included, to throw the fans a bigger bone than they did.
Perhaps in the future he can still be part of a cutscene fight, maybe with quick time actions so you can really interact with the character. Otherwise, I have a hard time imagining how to make this work.
If Motaro is in the game then Jax has to be, too because Mr. Ed is his!
