It's been a year since Mortal Kombat 1 revealed the characters in its first DLC Kombat Pack and it looks like there could be similar revelations ahead as they return to this year's San Diego Comic-Con for the Mortal Kombat 1 - Year 2 convention panel. Read on for details:

Friday, July 26th will see NetherRealm Studios return to SDCC for a special Year 2 presentation for the most recent installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise. It will roughly coincide with Takeda early access, and MK's return to the Evo World Championship -- which saw a slight uptick in overall signups.

Update: The panel is officially scheduled to begin at 2:00PM PDT and run for an hour, with Ed Boon joined by voice actors Erika Ishii and Kaiji Tang (MK1 Sub-Zero), with NetherRealm Studios Cinematic Development Director Marty Stoltz and, Principal Cinematic Artist Joshua Slingerland on hand to discuss "continuing story, future fighters, and new game features" coming to MK1.

Chief Creative Officer and general ambassador for the series, Ed Boon, has shared extensive plans for short term fixes with the Takeda update, including gameplay updates boasting buffs for characters like Nitara, Li Mei, Quan Chi, and Scorpion, improvement buffs for Frost, Scorpion, Sektor, Cyrax, and Goro Kameo Fighters, and various other improvements.

Although no official announcements have been made, the Year 2 presentation is also expected to elaborate more on future downloadable content characters, and a previously confirmed Story Mode addition, which will reportedly precede another big surprise.
