I believe it as a starting point for their costumes and they are not completely finished yet once the CGI and visual team kicks in we might be in for a surprise. if this does not happen then it may suck.

Yes, that makes sense. They're going to pay for the costumes and then pay again to have CGI splashed on top of the ugly costumes to make some fixes. Brilliant.

Those are some ugly costumes!
How is it possible that costumes from a tv series made 20 years ago with a very small budget (Mortal Kombat Conquest) look so much better than these??

20 Years? Math fail... unless you're only referring to the ninja costumes which did original from the MK movie; then yes, it was 20 years. And to answer your question, it's because they kept things simple and weren't trying to match the hideousness of MKX's costume designs. I swear; with each new iteration, the ninjas look less and less like ninjas and more just pathetic shrouds of their former selves. Shoving in "classic" skin packs just doesn't do it either.

I'm pretty sure MK Conquest was shot around 1996.
It looked infinitely better. I still watch that show when I get nostalgic about Mortal Kombat and want to check out/ be inspired for storylines. That tv show and the 2 konquest modes from Deception and Armageddon are my greatest joy when it comes to lore and storytelling.
The Legacy web series....meh...double meh....very bad
O hope this new one won't resemble Legacy, but it seems it will

And then it took them until the third quarter of 1998 to release the first episode?

Ok, so it wasn't 20 years, it was 18. I didn't look it up on google. What's your point?
My point was that the costumes were better than what we see in this photo.

Maybe not CGI but what if they have some shots in hell and the bright yellow costume looks bad with the lightning and added hell effects?
Movies aren't filmed with only one costume. They can have tons of duplicates for the same costume depending on the environment, lightening and post production effects.
Different colors in behind the scene pictures is not something to be scared of. Erron Black looking gladiator is the biggest problem here. Slap a yellow cloth and a headband on Takeda and he looks fine.

I don't care how many different ways you recolor those costumes in the picture; that doesn't negate the fact they look cheap as hell.

There was nothing awesome about that SF live action pile of dogshit.
Legacy, especially the first season, was better.

Geez, and I thought I'd be the only one cracking on these whack-ass costumes.
It's really pathetic when fan COSPLAY wipes the floor with these "professional" costumes.
Well, I've been waiting too long for this damn webseries to be released it's gotten to the point where I don't care if it even gets cancelled. What are they trying to do? Be like the Force Awaken's marketing team? Well... they suck at it.
I hope it's good. I am tired of MK being laughed at, worldwide, especially after the release of SF's [awesome] webseries.

Eh, I think they at least look better than Sub-Zero's paintball gear from Legacy. I thought Takeda was a girl at first though, and that doesn't really look anything like Erron Black without the hat and bandanna.
I don't mind the costumes - with the movie in the works - and after the 'failure' (?) of series 2, was not expecting expansive costumes this time around.
I think also, they've gone for more realistic costumes - in the game, those are some very fine threads - no martial artist in a fight to the death battle would wear $1000 outfits like some of them do :D

How many more fucking months will it take them to release this?
Wasn't there some buzz about them supposed to do it in conjunction with MKX's release...
