I love to take risks just for fan approval! The rush and excitement from the crowd is all that matters to me!

It was just a question that popped into my mind while watching the first Mortal Kombat, but the question is...if you watch the fight between Johnny Cage and Scorpion, at the end when scorpion explodes, at picture of Johnny Cage flies to the ground and on it says: "To my greatest fan, Johnny Cage"...WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT?...what meaning did that have?...was it from scorpion or what?......your thoughts?
It was Johnny's friendship finisher..remember MK2? It's exactly the same as his friendship in that game. Though it confuses me as to why he "killed" him first and then did the Friendship but whatever. Maybe he Knew Scorp wasn't gonna die?

Maybe so, but if it the friendship finisher than I think that was pretty cool, because it always had me wondering.
Actually, I think it's pretty confusing but fun.
I think Cage either throws it at Scorpion in the end as a cocky joke, OR...
Scorpion actually had it and it flew away when he exploded. I think that's pretty silly, but it's what it looks like, and we certainly don't see Cage throwing the picture.

Quite possibly that could have happened....lol interesting to think that Scorp whould have been a Cage fan...actually pretty hilarious.

I don't think it was supposed to have any meaning. Just a joke and reference to Cage's friendship in the game.

That last post was right. Johnny Cage was merely mocking Scorpion. First he beat him, then, to add insult to injusry, he threw his burning corpse an autograph. What did you guys not understand? I thought it was simple.

Did you see him throw it?...didn't think so. Ye Johnny Cage leaving Scorpion an autograph seems logical, but still you never know what it could've meant. It could've been something completely different or it could be exactly what you say. But in all due respect that's pretty much what I was thinking.

How about think of it this way... Cage has the photo kept somewhere on his shirt and the photo is supposed to give to a fan back on earth.... when scorpion explodes... cage made a leap to safety.... then somehow the photo slip away from his shirt.... and the photo got burned... this could be an omen that cage will be killed in the future... that's when you see shao kahn killed cage in mka....

Yeah pretender is right, it was a sign that johnny cage was going to die in the future.
A sign that Cage was going to get ki...
RIGHT.
I don't think Paul Anderson even knew they were going to kill him in MKA. And even if it wasn't direction, I don't think the writer knew either. I think that's one of the dumbest theories yet.
I don't think Cage threw it at Scorpion, I think Scorpion had the Cage photo with him. We don't see Cage throwing it, we don't even get hinted that it was thrown by him, not by a shadow or anything. We just see it flying into the ashes.

This is the best meaning i think of the picture. Since johnny cage was a big actor/stunt man he was looked up to by alot of people. One of those people might have been scorpion. Scorpion then got his idols autograph and keep it to follow his steps in fighting. Then when he knew he was gonna fight him he took the photo with him and when he lost the picture flow out and you see that he was a fan of johnny's :). Best way i can explain it

Actually, if you look at the picture, you'll see that it's in mint condition, like it was pulled out of a portfolio or something. Since neither Scorpion nor Cage seems to be carrying anything of that sort with them during the fight (ever try doing martial arts carrying a portfolio?), the only way either of them would've had it with them would be if it was in their pocket or something, and that would require them to fold/roll up the picture first, causing creases in it. Since the picture itself is undamaged when it falls into the ashes, I don't see any explination on how it gets there.
Most likely, the picture was meant to be another homage to the games, but since there's no logical explination on *how* the picture showed up, it's still a valid nit in the movie.

Yeah, but that doesn't stop people from making it more complicated than it really is. Call it arguing for the sake of arguing and having some fun with theories.

Scorpion nor Cage had the picture. It was there just to be an inside joke for the people who played MkII.

Forget about what it means. The question is, who was Cage giving it to? I mean there were plenty of skeletal remains and bodies everywhere. He could have given it to any one of them.

It was a joke!!! After Cage finishes scorpion, he eaves an autograph... which happens to be his friendship, so it's a double joke, for people who did and did not play MK2
Actually, the fight took place on the 3rd tuesday in the month of june, which had the planets on the left of the sun lined up. This cause the suns solar flares to surge, which created massive winds which took the photo all the way from LA on Cages desk, to the island....if you look close when they teleport into hell the photo sneaks in and lands up higher than the fighters.....then scorpions explosion causes enough updraft to unseat the photo from high above, causing it to fall down below long after cage has walked away. Duh.
oh my gosh you people are reading too much into this. Its mere fanatic referencing for crying out loud. Yes Cage thought some fool he just beat wanted his autograph in MK2, it has no meaning!
Don't believe me then behold example B

Wolverine: You actually go outside in these things
Cyclops: What did you expect? Yellow spandex.
