Sonyas a coward vs. Kano

something I've always noticed about the sonya kano fight is that sonya overheard shang stung telling kano not to harm her, during the fight while sonya had kanos neck locked in her legs, she is told to finish kano by shang, kano and sonya both know kano has just been betrayed by stung so kano begs for mercy and sonya snaps his neck like a twig. ive always considered sonya a coward for finishing off kano after she knows he wasnt going to kill her during the fight(so she is almost handed the win, especially after catching him in such a deadly move), also she looks him in the eyes while he's begging then smirks before giving her final "ok" and twisting his neck. anyone else notice/agree

because she was handed the win, and she wouldnt let kano go to give him a fair fight after shang betrayed him. a woman would do that

That's not being a coward. I don't think you understand the purpose between Sonya and Kano at all. What she did, was not being a coward.

You don't know for sure that she was handed the win. Remember that Kano's deal to get paid was to get Sonya to the island. Nowhere is it stated or even implied that he had to go easy on her when they fought.

Even if Kano was supposed to go easy on her, he's a double-crosser by nature and probably wouldn't have stuck to this part of the bargain.

Remember that Kano killed Sonya's partner. From that perspective, why should Sonya care about the fight, or what happened behind the scenes as far as any kind of a deal with Shang - the killer needed to be brought to justice, and now he is. She had to avenge her partner. Nothing cowardly about that.

You know that exploiting an enemies weakness has been a tactic used for thousand of years in Wars worldwide, right? Hell, look at Johnny Cage, his Nutcracker was designed around that concept. It is as much of a show of cowardice as guerrilla warfare.

One thing, how's taking out a long spiked knife and using it in combat going easy on her? How's mentioning what he did to her partner years ago and telling her how he killed him, going easy on her?

Yeaaahhhh... Not to mention, the points that Kombat made are 100% true.

I kind of see how you get that meaning; however what most of inferred is "beat her, but just don't kill her". Kano is not the type of who would agree to lose on purpose (to a girl!).

Remember, Sonya is the one he was to humiliate...not himself.

Sure she was handed the win, in fact Sonya despite being pushed, hyped, helped, protected by character shield, always sucks in every situation and every form of media.
To be fair, she is simply unable to beat Kano without some kind of external help, and even this way her fight scene is pathetic. That's the way it goes even in the game, they can't write her any better.

The term Mortal Kombat is so obviously self-explainitory.. I asked my 4 y.o couson who never even heard of Mortal Kombat and he replied "Fight till you win!!"
