Raiden, an actual important and relevant figure, and who happens to be the character that carries the MK storyline? Or even Liu Kang, or Johnny? It's not like they aren't popular or recognizable.

This IGN interview is beautiful! They are turning Mortal Kombat into another comics universe with diverse unique characters and atmosphere. From what I have read from the article I understand that the guy is a fan and REALLY wants to make these series work. I am a big fan of Dexter Soy's work so I know the art will be amazing and dark too.

I hope Shawn brings his A+ game to storytelling. Given that he is allowed to use all MK characters in his stories It all will depend if he studies thoroughly the original timeline with all these 60+ characters. With NRS and their guidance I hope he does.

I just can't wait for Smoke's Enenra background to be exploited more given that he is in Hell now. I have a suspicion Quan Chi might make him and Sub-Zero join Brotherhood of Shadows. And Sareena helping these two to lose Quan Chi's control and escape. But while Sub-Zero escapes to Earth,Smoke decides to stay back and enjoy his new Enenra self... Okay,I went off a bit,but I really wanna see Sareena,especially in comics! Everyone actually!

So, just because the comic is going to follow arguably the most iconic and recognizable character (love him or hate him, whatever), we're not going to see an ensemble cast? It's just going to be Scorpion talking about Scorpion and fighting mirror Scorpions every other page?

Come on. The guy said the 1st year of stories involves over 40 different characters. The core of the story may be about Scorpion's journey, but we're going to see a fuck-ton of other MK'ers too. And honestly, you really shouldn't be *that* surprised the story is centered around the Netherrealm Spectre...

Be happy we're getting a comic at all, not to mention one that seems to be in pretty good hands.

I'm pretty pumped after reading the IGN article. I read the Scorpion tidbit before seeing the IGN link. It all sounds good so far. However, I'm still not interested in seeing Scorpion's past fleshed out in detail. I'm just not into him.

Because the last time Raiden was headlining an MK title, things turned out great for everyone involved. :D


What is his A+ game? What is he actually known for? As far as I can figure out, he had some involvement with the scripts for Injustice and the Arkham games. Can any comicfags elaborate?

Yeah the interview has me feeling good about the comic, like really good. Very excited to see how things unfold and what characters we see in the comic. Can't wait to see Cassie Cage and what she does in there.

I was hoping the comic would divulge information on the cast of MKX.

But it appears the author has all mk character's at his disposal not just the MKX character's so it will be a crapshoot to narrow it down.


Either way I am still buying these comics.

On another note: Even though a henchman, he looks pretty cool and I hope he is in MKX. He is as to Baraka, Reptile, Noob, etc. They are all henchmen to Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, etc.

So he will make a great character.

i'd say if anything this can be mavado's new design, i'd love to have him back in the mk universe since hes always been one of my favorites.

Is anyone else feeling extremely comforted by the announcement of the comic book series before the game?

I think it shows just how in depth the story mode of MKX will be. Not only does it span 25 years but it seems as though my hopes are being realized and we will get a meaty story with side plots and lots of original content.

Idk. if there is enough explaining to do prior to the MKX release that it warrants a small comic book series; then I see that as a good sign that the upcoming story is not only new but extremely fleshed out.

This is an exciting time for MKverse I can't wait to get my hands on the comics.

I like it, specially the fact that it will be considered canon unlike other MK comics. It gives room for some character developing, including the ones that won't make the cut, and we get to explore the origins of some of them.

Even if someone that didn't make the cut becomes popular through the comic, there is potential for him to be DLC, so it's all good.
