Okay, , Kano's accent was beyond fake-sounding.
That's that actor's actual speaking voice I believe. A lot of people criticizing this thing are forgetting the fact that this is a LOW BUDGET 10 minute web series, there's going to be pacing problems, less than stellar performances and questionable special effects. The acting in this is still better than majority of the performances seen in the first film. Also Warner is giving us this series for FREE, they could have thrown this up on Itunes and asked people to pay for it.Okay, , Kano's accent was beyond fake-sounding.

I really hope this page extends beyond 3 pages. I really hope people come here after work tonight. While I gave the video a 2/5, I think it's deserving of more comments, even if they will just be the same things we've already said, repeated.
I didn't love it. I was expecting the visceral feel of MK: Rebirth. The fight scenes and the gun scenes were not so exciting. The acting was not very exciting. Sonya Blade was not very sexually exciting. I am going to keep watching it and enjoying it, but this episode was like a 2/5. I can't wait for a 5/5.

I actually liked it. Good pace, too. 12 minutes, leave you wanting more. My only complaint was Sonya could've been hotter looking. Other than that, great job

Kinda disappointed that they had to showcase the Jax/Sonya/Kano story into two parts just cuz the actors have bigger cred. But all in all I thought it was pretty cool.
This was a million times better than that bastardization known as rebirth.
Likes- It takes itself seriously, and they've tone down the campiness from the games. So for the most part it works. I love Jax. Michael Jai White is awesome. Kano was good, and I liked the references like his knife and the headbutt. Sonya seemed pretty autentic and an overall solid job. I like how the Black Dragon has a high emphasis on tech, and they are responsible for the cybernetics. The hand to hand combat was fun.
Dislikes- Way too much fire fights. Guns should be very limited in the MK universe. I came to see people fight, not shoot. I like the actor who plays Stryker, but he's not very good so far. So far he is just generic by the book cop that is really plain and uninteresting. To me he just feels like a shoe horned name drop.
Making a live action Mk seems more like a school project that is hard to pull off so I'll give each episode a letter grade.
Verdict: Good tone, good story, and solid action. B.

I enjoyed it immensely!
At first I was disappointed that there weren't more fist fights, but then I thought...you know what...this is a movie about real life cops and villians. Nobody runs into a battle with just their fists anymore. You're going to use guns, and it was only logical to have the fist fights where they were between Jax and Kano.
I thought it was very well done, and I feel like we'll get more than our fair share of fist fights between Kitana and Mileena and Scorpion and Sub and in later episodes. The snippets of Kitana and Mileena fighting were RIDICULOUSLY INTENSE and it looked visceral and real. This is going to be sick.

Very enjoyable.....I could have watched for another 45 minutes.
So I'm wondering...how many episodes are they going to have?
How far into the cannon are they going to try to go?
I like the hints to the automation process and see where this will become a future episode but I'm trying to think of ALL of the other characters and plots within the game and trying to think of how many episodes they will need to have in order to create a decent story.
ONLY concern (I understand budget=effects etc) but they can't kill story.
I know Sonya was captured but they need to show that. That fight would have been excellent. I hope they don't sacrifice story for time.
I understood they were only going to have like 10-15 episodes and this one felt too short. So I'm concerned that once it is all done there is going to be a WTF feeling......

Fair enough, but a lot of people's issues with Rebirth still remain in tact with this series.

I agree about guns, but I'm thinking that in the future (other characters) there wont be as many guns. Thinking about the focus of THIS episode, guns would be expected in a larger way. The future focusing on different characters wont have as many guns.

@Joe Von Zombie: To be fair with they way those "cops" operate and handle matters they were lot in line with the games' Special Forces but that likely is to be explained because of the somewhat futuristic setting.
This isnt as big of deal as a thought it would be because they are really Cops In Name Only.(Cops dont investigate terrorists in real life as an example)

I'm gonna say you're wrong on that one. I'm sure the police have had their hands in terrorist investigations before those cases were handed off to the feds. Jax and his comrades were more SWAT than military.
Also The Black Dragon are a crime cartel not al qaeda. The were selling stolen weapons to the Lin Kuei not planning terrorist attacks.

OWIA are Outer World Investigation Agency. I see no reason why they don't belong. I also agree with you JVZ. I think this short is Amazing. Feel's Like a Recreation of MKC. Great Vision & Drive behind this!Sweetre15 Wrote:

Yes I'm aware. That wasn't my main problem with Rebirth. My problem was a poor adaptation of Reptile, Baraka, Sub-zero, and Shang Tsung. It also looked like it was too realistic, and the Seven and Saw influence was stupid. IMO.
Nothing was right about Rebirth except Michael Jai White as Jax.
