Surprised this thread is still active. LOL. Personally I think this shows that the only way of getting a proper MK adaptation is though a fanmade production, like Street Fighter Assassin's Fist.

It's not about "sugarcoating." I know going back and re-watching the scene probably isn't a priority, considering your opinion of the film, but Kano literally cut the fists off of one of the big golden statues with his laser, and that's what pinned Sonya down.
