Oh where to begin...

1. Not mention characters in the film that never appear (Kabal and Stryker are mentioned a few times, but where are they?).

2. No simple stating of opposites to try and make a point (Raiden: Whatever can be closed can also be re-opened; those arms aren't your strength, they're your weakness... BORING and STUPID).

3. Johnny would've come back from the dead, like MKT, then died once Earthrealm and Outworld separated.

4. No re-use of scenes to show deaths (Rain's death scene is used for Baraka's, and horribly edited to do it).

5. Better execution of special moves (Raiden's torpedo blew, Shao Kahn and Cage shadow abilities sucked hard).

6. Not make every character either with or against Kahn (Cyrax and Smoke were part of the Extermination Squads when they should not have).

7. Better costumes (how did they fuck up Cyrax's mask and make it grey with a yellow scalp?! Also, Jax's metal arms looked like plastic, and Kahn's helmet was cheap plastic too that actually fucking broke).

I'm not sure I can even go on... In fact, I won't. I'd re-write the whole movie from scratch.

If I was the director, I'd demand a a script rewrite; The problem with this film wasn't so much the direction, it was the horrible script, dialogue, etc. I would make better use of the budget (less special effects, but more impressive); Better use of the characters (less characters for more development), etc.

I actually heard that the original script for this was much different and followed the plot of the MK2 game instead, and featured Kintaro as well. I think they would have been much better off following that script that the crap they chose instead.

1. Make it follow Mortal Kombat 2 plot

2. Put in all MK 2 characters(including Kano and Sonya)

3. Make characters have an important role(I'm looking at you Baraka, Mileena, Smoke and Noob Saibiot)

4. Badass fight scene like in MK1 (it would kickass to see a nice and long decent fight between Liu Kang and Baraka)

5. No honorable wise ass crap(ect. "those arms aren't your strenght, there your weakness")

6. Not have Johnny Cage get killed off

7. Have the same dude that plays as Shao Kahn in Conquest, play as Shao Kahn in the movie

8. No people, flipping around, like there in Power Rangers.

1) Bigger roles for Scorpion and Sub-Zero. It made no sense for Scorpion to capture Kitana for Shao Kahn. It's like they totally ignored his neutrality to make him evil and get him in a fight scene with Sub-Zero. And speaking of Sub-Zero, why the hell did he leave and where the hell did he go? Why couldn't he come with them?

2) Better fight scenes. So many people got killed in like two seconds. Baraka fight scene was a joke with the Rain edit. Sheeva gets crushed and doesnt fight at all. "The dates over". meh. Raiden vs Kahn was so dull. "Then I will take your generals". If he could take his generals, which was like 4-5 people, why didn't he just do it? And the Liu Kang vs Kahn was bleh. I could barely understand what was going on during their Animalities.

3) No useless cameos of characters with NO story. ex: Rain, Ermac, Mileena, Nightwolf, Smoke, Cyrax, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, ect.

4) WTF was with Shinnok. I didn't even realise it was him until I saw the credits.

5) Dont have Raiden cut his hair and have a new look. He was too preachy. The only time he used lightning was to collapse a wall. Christopher Lambert FTW.

6) In the fight scene with Jade and Liu Kang, one minute she has blackish make up on her eyes and lips and then its gone. wtf is that?

There were a few things I liked.

1) Some of Jax's lines. "Damn. You barbecued his ass". "Shao what!?" "Looks like this babe's having a bad hair day." "You keep talking about mergers and realms and all that stuff, but it dont mean squat to me".
"Took off like a bat out of hell"

2) I like how Sindel said "That was fun" after doing her scream-thing.

3) Sonya doing her kiss of death fatality on Cyrax.

Hmm...if I directed Annihilation...

Sheeva would actually be in a fight.

After the Animality fight, Shao Kahn wouldn't just stand there while Liu Kang beat the crap out of him.

Raiden would land on his head, instead of flat on his back.

Shinnok would also be in a fight. Also, he'd be Raiden's killer.

Make a note that the Elder Gods are about as helpful as a dead former-thunder-god.

just explain storyline and let the character talk always less than 5 minutes,otherwise the movie will become boring.

Raiden was arguing with Shinnok, so Shao Kahn was ordered to finish him because Shinnok was too lazy to do it himself.

No wonder Raiden defies the Elder Gods on a somewhat regular basis.


The underground tunnel-sphere thing kinda looks like fun though

Here's what I would do & and xcuse me if I get carried away.

1. Longer fight scenes (obviously)

2. Instead of Sub-Zero saving Liu Kang & Kitana from Smoke
(no disrespect to the man but that was kind of a lame save.)
Have Kung Lao come in out of nowhere and block smoke's
missile with his hat. Then toss his hat back decapitating smoke
then he explodes.

3. Scorpion kidnapping Kitana ? Can U really see this happening?
I damn sure can't. Instead have Baraka come in and stab her in the chest then he runs off with her. That I can see happening. lol

4. take out those useless extras for the extermination squads replace them
with Tarkatans since they are Shao Kahn's Army.

5. Nightwolf & Sub-Zero have bigger roles in the movie. I mean cmon
Nightwolf quite possibly the 5th most badass character in MK history
and Sub-Zero...The name speaks for itself.

6. Just for the hell of it add Kabal & Stryker and have 'em in cages
in Kahn's fortress.

7. After Rain's untimely death Shao Kahn named Sindel his new general...
since when did the queen get demoted to a general? Shao Kahn's general should've been Reiko. And don't ask why.

8. Raiden sacrificing himself without even putting up a fight a Liu Kang
just stands there and let fall. The least he could've did was catch the bastard. Then the slow motion jump effect would've actually been useful.

9. Let the mystery of how Shao Khan entering Earth Realm drag on until
Kitana gets captured.

10. The final battle instead of Liu Kang vs Shao Kahn pull a Shaolin Monks and add Kung Lao to the mix then you've got yourself a fight people.

I think they should have had less fights, but make them more cinematic.

Like Sub vs. Scorp was pretty good, but then they both disappeared for the rest of the movie! Scorp kidnapped Kitana, so Liu Kang should have caught up with him and found out that he doesn't want to bring her to Khan, but wants to use her to draw out his supposed murderer ( new Sub ) or the Champion of Earthrealm ( Liu ) because he's a real psycho wildcard.

The whole 'Noob coming out of Ermac's chest' thing was weird too, and they would have been better off not to include them than to make them so weird and weak ( Noob was the original Sub, who killed Scorp and four elemental Gods in Mythologies, while Ermac could fight all the warriors from Earthrealm at the same time except for Liu in Deception ) and they were both killed by Sonya and Jax?!?!?
I repeat ... '?!?!?' ... That just doesn't work for me.

The other three Reptiles were never explained either, and 1 disappeared without doing anything. I always liked to think they were some of the last of their kind and the disappearing one was the Reptile we all know and love, but to just jump in, have one disappear then the others die is abit of a cop out, and to put in something like that just to have another fight scene when they should have been improving the ones they already had isn't a good idea.

I'm just gonna stop there before I fill up too much space because I think all the fights could have been done better, but Sonya / Jax vs. Cyrax was actually alright ( I don't care so much about the dialogue or story, just the fighting and the fighter's motivation - isn't that what MK is all about? ).

Sorry, but I think it would definately suck if they were to make a remake. I just don't think that a live action movie (remake or not) would not satisfy what Mortal Kombat really is.
I know this is weird but i think they should make a movie of MK like they do for the story modes. (animation) but do substantial work on it and make it look great. I don't think anyone can play the roles of these characters except the people who actually did them (actors for MK I, II, & III). And they only look good in the way they are presented in the games. (DA, D, & A)

But back on topic: If they remade Annihilation:

-Get Sindel's look right, and everyone else's look right.
-Stick to the actual story line of the game and not some cheap story in which they only took alittle from the movie.
-Get some of the Characters bio right (mileena, jade, ninja's,)
-And actually show all of the characters from that timeline instead of just a few.
-Also (opinion) No johnny cage (even at the opening) And actaully show Kano's return. That was a huge part in Sonya's bio in MK3.

I personally think they should just forget about their screw up in the MK movies and rethink options. They could do a remake but If they're going to do another one, pick a different story line.

Pretty simple, follow the damn story that has been laid out for you!
MK has a backstory for a reason. Theres no use in making a film if
you aren't going to follow the story the way its suppose to be. MK 1
should have only featured the characters and plot of the first game.
The second film should have followed the MK 2 plot.

Jade was so shitty in Annihilation. I quite frankly do not even
acknowledge her as Jade. She is a INO character (In Name Only)
Sindel, while her role was pretty much followed her MK3 storyline,
what they did wrong with her was her look. Not so much her ensemble,
even though that shit did look like a costume store rental. Her hair
was suppose to be white with a black streak, not vice versa.

Blah, there's just so much wrong with Annihilation. I don't even
want to keep talking about it. So much wasted potential it was.

The movie was trash. But funny. Like the other guy said, stick to the fucking plot. everyone that was in MK I should've been in the film along with the addition MK II peoples. Whoever dies should've died. I would've loved to see raiden blowing kintaro to ashes or kitana killing mileena or even have jax rescuing sonya on a side dialogue.... the movie was shitty. they could've shown sub zero vs scorpion with scorpion giving him the scar and sparing him.....rain, sheeva, kabal, stryker wasnt even in mk II

For Me I'd have to remake the original movie and then this one.
Brian Thompson was an Okay Shao Kahn, it's just that as an evil dude he showed for joy than anger. But not his fault it was that damn script.

The movies weren't really based on one specific game, more like several games put together. And no, Annihilation was not based on MK2, because Motaro, Sheeva, Cyrax, Smoke, Jade, Nightwolf, Ermac, Rain, Kabal, Stryker... ugh... Jax's metal arms, and Sindel were never in MK2, so no.

Annihilation's basic premise of "Shao Kahn ressurects Sindel on Earth in order to invade the realm without Mortal Kombat victories" is taken straight from MK3. Extermination squads, General Motaro and all that shit. Straight out of MK3.

They added a dash of MK4 with Shinnok (making Sindel's ressurection completely pointless). There's really no MK2-ness to Annihilation at all.

Uh and no Kung Lao wasn't the main character of MKII?

no sorry but kung was just one of the most loved by fans,he nevere really gets a more important role than jax,sonya and cage except for mk da.
however i think hedeserves to appear in a movie,but with the same importance of other seondary heroes.
storyline-wise the most important character in mk2 was liu kang followed byrayden and kahn.

i would keep jonny cage alive atleast to the end of the movie

Why? The movie is horrible already, I don't think keeping Johnny alive til the end would have made things any better, though, it would have been interesting to see what he would do during the movie.
