Oh well.

If Kevin can't do MK anymore. He should do KI (Killer Instinct).

When I want something different, I go to other franchises. When I want MK, I hope to get it from MK.

Good.

Thought the fight scenes in Legacy were great. Story and concept both blew.

KT is a capable director, but a horrifyingly bad writer.

I actually got to meet Mark Dacascos (he's in my town filming a show) nicest guy in the world, we actually talked about this briefly, he said Kevin left because WB shelved the movie for a long time.

Well yeah. Why would WB waste money on a crappy MK film when they can pimp out Batman/Superman/Justice League.

I get it but we all want to see a sequel, and guess what...it's probably stuck in production hell and we'll never see a new MK film again. KT was our only chance, because he brought back life into the franchise (Web Series/Movie wise) I doubt they will do a new film now.

If they shelved the movie for "a long time" then who cares if its stuck in development hell? We wait impatiently either way.

Obviously he wasn't our "only chance" since he bailed. Some one else with bigger balls and a better vision can take over.

If Kevin's reason for bailing is they don't want to make a movie anymore, then we're not getting a movie no matter who the director is. Kevin or no Kevin, the result is the same.

And I'm actually fine with that now, a tv series or something like that would probably be a lot better way for the story and multiple characters to get fleshed out instead of waiting X amount of years in-between films that would probably just be 90 minutes of crap.

Sure, but who'd really want to, in all honesty? Video game movies still have something of an unsavory reputation and not many are going to want to take the gamble in bringing MK back to the big screen.

Quoting fail.

The problem is that they hire too many "hot shots" who put their own opinion into the movie which does nothing but fuck it all up. If fans on this website can write amazing fanfics in the fansubmission forum, then obviously they're hiring the wrong people to write scripts. You need some one with a passion; but what executive in their right mind is going to hire a no-name fan and string them along a multi-million dollar project, right? Even if that happens some ass-hat has to throw their two cents in and change shit around from what the original writers wanted.

I got to meet Ed Boon last week at a bar in Chicago. He mentioned that he had spoke to Kevin about two weeks ago and that his departure from the film may not have been by choice. Warner brothers intends to move forward with the movie without him and that the film is still in development as far as he knows.

Thanks for the info. I'm positive the less-than-savory reception of Legacy 2 had something to do with his departure.

I've been really out of the loop regarding "MK" recently and this little bit of news had totally passed me by! I'm glad, if I'm honest. I just didn't like the man's vision of "MK." At all. Season 2 of 'Legacy' was woeful, to me.

Warner Brothers really should try and get the movie out with the next game, both the game and the movie released in the same year will be HUGE for Mortal Kombat, it will be like the glory days when MK3/Trilogy and the first MK movie came out, hopefully it is moving forward..

I really enjoyed Legacy's take, moments like Scorpion shown with human characteristics that make his story worth it. I cared about the Special Forces for the very first time. There were many talented fighters who looked like their characters. Plus many other things I did like.

I'm glad I got the director to respond to one of my tweets telling him some of this.

Good luck to that. I doubt the movie even has a script yet. And now the next gen systems are out I bet the next game is well on its way. WB is going to want to get at least 3-6 Netherrealm games out in the next ten years.

The only script written for this mess so far was a development draft by Kevin that he posted parts of online in 2012. That's it.

Yeah it's not looking good for MK movie. They're with Warner Bros now, why can't they get biggest producers in the industry on board?

Because WB is too busy putting all their resources into Man of Steel 2 AKA Batman vs Superman AKA Justice League

I found a petition to bring back Kevin for Legacy 3 and MK film. I only liked one of Legacy episodes, which was Cyrax and Sektor vs Hydro one. So I don;t want to see Kevin return.

Warner dicked him around enough with the movie for over two years, so the chances of him returning are slim to none. He's run his course.
