Wow, that's a unique look for reptile. But at the same time, it also stays relatively true to how we've known him for years.
I like this a LOT.
The shredded, hanging ropes look unbelievably good on him.
Only problem is how skinny his ankles are.

I've been waiting for this since you started this new series. And it has been entirely worth the wait.

As a redesign, just way too much wardrobe sharing going on for me.
Counter-productive, I believe. Particularly for a character like Reptile, who has some very natural design hooks that are unique to him [in MK] and can set him apart very vividly.

Lets compare the ninjas;
They all retain the ninja look they originated from without looking anything like a palette swamp. I don't see wardrobe sharing at all, i've made sure that they all have different tunics, masks, belts, ninja boots, trims ect. They all have a different vibe about them.
Now, I can understand not liking the classic MK ninja design for all of them and Its certainly very possible to design them farther from the ninja look in a cool way, but for me, That's how I prefer them.
For Reptile, I certainly like him as more of a reptilian creature, but I've never LOVED any of his designs post Mk1-3. He looked cool in MK4 but then he had this weird techno outfit...or in MKSM were he got a cool costume but had Barakas mouth and Ermac wraps and in MKDA he looked just silly.
EDIT: This board is way too thin. lol

Given that there are so few common elements from ninja to ninja in your designs, I'm not quite sure what Mick is taking issue with either unless he just plain doesn't want to see Reptile in a mask and V-neck period.
Personally, I don't think of the "V" as a ninja thing anyway, I just think of it as a general good looking piece of clothing. Lots of characters wear them. Raiden and Fujin, Shang Tsung sometimes, Shujinko...most of the Jedi in Star Wars, even.
And a V looks a hell of a lot better on Reptile than, say, the strange tube top they somehow decided to put under that chestplate for MK9. Not that there even are many alternatives for Reptile unless you're out to radically redesign him from scratch. He's actually worn a V in every game until now, even the ones where he was unmasked. MKDA Reptile is actually wearing a traditional ninja outfit minus the hood and mask, people just tend to overlook that because of the altered body, and MK4 Reptile had black V-suspenders, albeit the loincloth was replaced by the truly baffling choice of some sort of robot-underwear.
I will say this, though: I much prefer head-wrappings for Reptile and Ermac over traditional masks. I don't mind that they both wear them because they're different material. Ermac's wrappings are like a leather strap and the theme seems to be "mystic wearing a turban over his whole face" whereas with Reptile, it's black gauze and the goal seems to be "trying to hide his true nature, but all he's got to work with are scraps and tatters." Also, I kinda wonder if a lot of the perceived sameness isn't because you didn't put shinguards or gauntlets on any of them. Yes, their wrists and legs are all wrapped differently, but they're still just wrapped in cloth and it can be a little bland depending on the character.
Anyway, my theory is that a great deal of the aversion some people have to "ninja" elements in certain characters is based on the idea that "Only Scorpion is an actual ninja because Ninjas only come from Japan." But to me, the thing is that all these "they're not even real ninjas" characters like Reptile, Ermac, and Rain ARE spies and assassins, and Outworld is designed to look like a nightmarish version of Ancient Japan. So even though they're not real practitioners of Earth Ninjutsu doesn't mean they aren't Outworld's exact equivalent of a ninja.
Trying to pretend Reptile is not a ninja...you might as well ask for him to be a different character. I mean, "ninja" is just a word, a masked assassin who kung fu fights is a masked assassin who kung fu fights one way or another. But that's a bit of a mouthful is all.

Yep. Ultimately, only one of them is a ninja, with a couple who might have a claim to vaguely similar dress. At the end of the day, MK should've evolved and distanced itself from this one-note design, I feel. I obviously have a very low threshold for the same basic design when it goes beyond Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and as noted, particularly when a character like Reptile has a very vivid design hook that sets him apart from the rest of the cast. I'd much rather designs earn some credibility by diversifying, emphasising individual characters, rather than wriggling for ham-fisted justifications.
I kept my comment brief to hopefully allow the registration of the perspective without mass distraction. "Wardrobe sharing" in the sense of a suburban metaphor, rather than literal doubles. For me, that picture of all your "ninjas" is evidence of the negatives, particularly when there's a conceited lack of detail. Usual criticism, from me. By all means, carry on.

i love every single one of your ninja redesigns.
for the simple fact, that they all retain the oriental and "ninja" feel.
your creations give me a strong sense of nostalgia as well as something fresh.
i would mess my pants if i played an MK game that used these designs.

Really like what you've done here with Reptile. Really like the hood and the pattern on the head and legs. Like the ripped effect in the wrist/legwear, and the V design is kinda reminiscent of scales in a way, which fits Reptile.
Seeing all of your ninja rworks together makes me appreciate them all a little more. All very individual yet sticking to the 'ninja theme'.

I agree with all the others, especially seeing all the ninjas together, it looks like an MK Ninja Andy Warhol painting. Keep up the good work!

Awesome job.
I really like the mask and the pattern on the hood, also the fact that he still has his reptile qualities but still looks like a ninja.
The wraps are a good touch.
I like his clothes overall to.

All your shit is bad ass, this one is my favorite right now, fucking amazing. You give all the characters uniqueness while still keeping the classic ninja essence.
All your designs are different and are no where near being palette swaps, each ninja has elements in their costume that are fully unique to them. All the designs feel new and fresh while staying true to the originals. Keep this shit up man, you the man when it comes to this.

My absolute favorite of all you're ninjas. Reptile looks sinister as hell in that! It's a little more slimy looking than scaly, which I find very interesting.
I went through all your works and I must say that thay are really good. I especially like this one. In my opinion it is your best art on this forum. The costiume remains true to the origilal (that is most important to me) but at the same time it gives a nice reptile skin look that creates an oryginal and complete look of a character. Keep up the good work!

I think the MK team should take a look at your designs because from the looks of these, they look better than what the MK team is coming out with. You really should be given a job at NetherRealm Studios.Lets compare the ninjas;

dude, your work is awesome. seeing all them ninjas together really drove home to me how well you've designed them all, totally different and yet retaining their, uh, ninja-ness from their original designs. awesome.
oh, and this is BY FAR the best reptile i have ever seen.

I was wondering if you can draw Khameleon and Tremor. Cut off Chameleon. He's lame.
