a couple of things i just need clarifying:

- are our characters set IN THIS GAME, just like dlc for this game would be, or for mk10? i.e, should our endings be about our characters beating shao kahn and winning the mk3 tournament?

- can we add to the mk mythology? like adding our own history, including bits about other characters already in the game and inventing our own realms?

- do we include enhanced moves along with the specials?

- would i be allowed to do a quick concept on heromachine at first, and then later on in the competition do my own drawing?

otherwise, great contest and i look forward to submitting something !

1) Yes, the characters should be set within this game's timeline. That's basically MK1-MK3, of course.

2) Yes, of course. Don't go wild with changing existing characters and attempt to follow the canon, but if something isn't elaborated on, feel free to elaborate.

3) Yes, you may do that.

4) Sure.

Yes, you may. If you use pre-existing characters, please keep in mind the judges will critique that based on how well you represent these characters. You may make your own elaborations as I stated above, but it's important to keep the characters believable with who they are. Just keep that in mind.



Yeah, believe me I know how you feel. I prefer the old timeline greatly and all my own fan fiction is based around it, including new characters. However, so everyone can exist together and so that the judges don't have to understand entirely different timelines, I made the decision this would be the best way to handle it. Hopefully you can still tweak one of your characters to enter for this, somehow.

I was just about to do a picture of my character for an art project - could the image submitted be a mix of the characters two appearances? I planned on having his normal appearance up front with some tears in the paper revealing his powered up form.

Would I be able to submit that, or would it have to be just the normal outfit and the alt?

I will post an update later tonight confirming everyone who has sent me concepts for the tournament. I have to say, this has come out of the gate far stronger than any of the other versions of this contest! Thanks for your interest and participation everyone.

I just submitted mine. Not much of an artist, so I really cannot help with that, but I do hope atleast the judges will like it. Will we be able to see some of the characters/positions?

when will you have a list of people participating in the tournament and who and which characters have made it into the tournament. also is it oficially decided that the tournament will only be 32 characters entered in. that number seems a bit small for which alot of people are entering.

when will the tournament actually start. how will we know if are character will be in the tournament because i don't really want the competition favoring certain users over other good quality characters.

Good question, and honestly I'm submitting a character I had on the first tournament and am modifying it to this new timeline. My character has had that sort of power that kinda mixes in with this new story of MK2011....

I've always been rather iffy on reusing characters from other tournaments, but seeing how this is a new timeline... I suppose you can do that.
