Sorry, Ryu, the fake just doesn’t fit with itself.
The sprites stand out too much against an MK2 background. Especially when you’ve got pasty old Shao Kahn back there in his throne watching the show giving reference to what we’re used to.
The blood effects aren’t anything spectacular, nor is the editing done to the background. The grinders just don’t fit. Nor do the pillar things. The graphics for all of that stuff is just too smooth for an MK fake (a problem I usually have with my edits).
The shadows are done fairly well except for Ermac’s torso, it has no shape to it (other than ovoid).
I’m not even holding the copy & paste aspect against you. Most of us started there at some point.
What would look really sick is an animation of these sprites if you could rip enough, or even edit a few to fill in the gaps. That would be “cream-ilicious”

I wish I had the resources to put together that type of ani. They would look so good. Thanks for the critique - alot more helpful than the usual "Lazy" BS

Some things you could try to make the 3D characters and other stuff match more with the background would be.
Use one level of the sharpen filter to get rid of the blurry lines. Don't over use this though, or it'll look bad. I would do this last though, after you do all your editing.
Copy the custom sprites to a new file in Photoshop.
Select the sprites, copy, Ctrl+N, enter, paste.
Make sure you have the sprite layer and an "empty / transparent" layer in that new file.
Then set that file's Image > Mode, to index color. It'll lower the number of colors that make up the image, so it matches the optimized look of sprites in MK games. You might set the color # to 64 or whatever you want.
That will also make the blurry edges hard, like with normal sprites because it gets rid of any transparency under 100%.
Now change that file's image > mode to RGB.
If you need to, do some clean up work around the edges of the sprites with the eraser set to pencil or block.
Select the sprite, copy and paste it back to your original project file and keep working on it.
You could also play with the saturation, to tone down the color brightness and see what setting matches best with the background.
