I'm going to be completely honest here. After watching you push out turds like this for the past few years, I wish you would put real effort into making something impressive. I can't speak for blacksaibot, but I, as one of the OGs in this industry, can't exactly be drawn back into this art form and have grown disinterested in the medium as a result of half-hearted work like this coming out of a user who, quite frankly, has somehow regressed in terms of talent in the decade and a half-plus since he started.

Cutting and pasting is child's play. Downloading and using someone else's effects is even easier. Making sure your characters, background, and effects actually look like they belong in the same image together isn't difficult, but some people just lack the artistic integrity or respect for their own work to care about such glaring details. Adjusting things such as lighting/shading requires a natural artistic eye, something I've never accused you of possessing.

No wonder the industry is a a broken and empty shell of its former self. I'd say that I'm sorry for not sugarcoating things for you. But, if I did, I feel like I'd be pretending to be someone I'm not. I'm an artist as well as a critic and I think this corner of the web deserves better. I genuinely feel like you're capable of better but too lazy to put in the effort. At least, that's what I've concluded based on your track record.

I actually put in a lot of custom modifications to my work and enjoy honing my skills with the art year to year. You're right though, sometimes I just want to get an idea out and should focus more on the lighting and how everything meshes as a whole.

You didn't even make sure the fonts used for the character names matched, man. On that same note, the one you used for the fighting style indicators doesn't match the one used in Deadly Alliance. (MK Warehouse has all the fighting style names available for use by anyone, so why you didn't make use of them is beyond me.) These are such obvious mistakes that it is, as you claimed, evident that you care more about pushing out a piece as opposed to putting something of quality together and at the very least attempting to impress the users who still visit this graveyard.

Practically no one else posts fake pictures, so it's not like you're under any pressure to put out an idea before someone else does. Take your time and maybe I'll jump back into the fray. I do have several near-finished works that were shelved because I have priorities that far exceed my desire to continue work in an industry that is no longer drawing a crowd.

I'm not sure you know what the word "defensive" means, bud. I mean, I may be defending the integrity of a hobby that was a mainstay in my life for a decade-plus all told. But, that's not the same thing as being "defensive". I gave you an honest critique. You replied to me and then I to you. That's how discussions work.

To put it plainly, a passion is something to which one dedicates his or her best effort. This appears to be no more than a hobby for you. I say that because instead of embracing criticism, you defend why your work is shoddy. That's the thing, though. You're aware that this is, at best, subpar work, especially for someone with your level of experience.

Impress me, man. That's why I come at you like I still give a shit about this. I want to see something that isn't the same old, same old from you. Cut/Copy, paste onto a background, download and apply special effects, and...that seems to be it, really. If these special effects, as you've claimed, are your own work, then maybe apply some of that skill to everything else because your effects often if not always look out of place compared to everything else.

Even though my interest in fake pictures is virtually nonexistent, I can still be lured back in if I see someone as worthy competition or special enough to invoke inspiration in me. You, my dude, are so not either of those things, lol.

You're no more than a pollutant, a noxious gas created from fires stoked by the hard-working individuals who helped build the fake picture industry into what it was for so long. But I do appreciate UltimateRyu for "at least" trying to inject some life, perform mouth-to-mouth with no adequate CPR training to what we already know, it's a dead ass forum since 2004. Sure, his work be looking like cheap fentanyl in comparison to VenoMark, the measuring stick in this business. But imagine spending a shitload of hours working on a "master piece" while no one here to appreciate it; it's a waste of time. I am not going to regurgitate what VenoMark has already stated. I've personally grown out of the whole "internet bad ass" phase of my life (for fuck's sake I'm in my late 30s) so you won't have to worry about me cussing you up and down the forum (I'm not saying that's what Veno is doing, I am referring to my old childish ways). So just take everything he already said, add some sugar coating on it, and that's what I have to say about it as well.

I will be the first to admit, it was likely my (and other's) harsh comments that killed this industry more so than "bad art" being submitted. Honestly, I think it's the fact people would rather put their time and effort into making ACTUAL games like Mugen that "stole" the show and talent from fakes. The Mugen community is alive and kicking on facebook. If you want to pour your passion somewhere, join a team and help them out with sprites. You can then see all your hard work actually come to life. It's very rewarding until some young punk steals your work without giving you credit. You cry a little bit, but then you get over it. I speak from experience.

Good to hear from you BS. Wow I'm just seeing after 2 months. With the new interface it's very difficult to see updates on preexisting posts. I just submitted a new piece but have pretty much given up on the fan art forum. At least in the old design there was a front page box to see thread updates. Thanks for your continued contributions / support for the art even if its just replies to work.
