Well the Arabian look is unintentional, all I did is take his Deception primary and try to make it look more like Scorpion and Sub-Zero did in the original MK1, and back then they had very loose-fitting hoods.

I dunno, Ermac's a very tough character to nail down. On one hand, he's supposed to be a ninja spy, and on the other, he's sort of got this wise mystic sage thing going on with his personality. And then you have to take into account that at this point in his history, he's enslaved to Kahn, so how do I represent that? And finally there's the fact that MK1 costumes should logically just plain be less complicated and ornate than the ones later in the series, to retain the feel of the era.

I think That Secret Characters and Bosses should NOT have alt. Costumes (like Blaze and Mokap in MKDA, Onaga in MKD, Blaze in MKAr, etc).

But If you do so, It doesn't matter what you did, I'm pretty sure it would be great!

Dumb idea: you could make him shirtless showing all the scars and bruises shared from his past lives.

Well Ermac was made from people's souls, not their bodies. He wouldn't have any scars his many former selves got before the merging because he's in a new skin so to speak.

Maybe something refering his bound (in the kind of imprison) with Shao Kahn. I don't know, something with chains or so.

Very nicely done. I really love these revamps of the MK1 cast.
Now to hope you will do for MK2... You know, Jade is in that. -hint hint- ;P

He won't do it until he finishes an alt for Ermac

And Goro. Goro's actually the harder one to come up with an Alt for. I mean, I have some general idea that I want to make him look more princely, a cape, a crown of some sort...but other than that, nothin'.

Goro can have some armor like Reiko/Kahn style shoulder pads, hip guards, his Kuatan weapons, but I think he'll stay shirtless

this + red cape from comics would be cool, but keep the chest visible if possible

Well obviously I don't want it to look too much like the primary already does.

And shoulder pads might make him look too similar to Kintaro...but you might be on to something there with the Reiko or Kahn-like idea.

I'm reminded of how in Deception, all the soldiers in Kahn's army wandering around wore armor that looked very similar to Kahn's as a uniform. Goro is supposed to be the General at that point in time. So a "Kahn's military" look might be a good way to go.

Besides the costume, you can add something like you do with the alt Sub-Zero (the head of Scorpion). Maybe something like the head robe of the Great Kung Lao or another "trophy" from that mistical fight.

With Ermac, I don't know what you have in mind, but something that would diference him from his primary costume, would be some like a more "MK Classic Ninja", with his arms visibles or something like that.

I don't want to botter you, just trying to give you some ideas to help :D

Ermac is an amalgam of thousands of Outworld warriors, right? Well, when I think of warrior, I think of armor. He was probably given some form of Reiko armor but was better of as a ninja. That's one way to show his allegiance to Kahn.

Love how noone seemingly noticed that Raiden is NOT of buddhist theosophy or theology. It is a shinto demon, or god named Raijin (Rai Den means Thunder and LIghtning, Raijin means lightning-spirit).

So, yeah. And buddhism is clearly of chinese origin (chan), and kudos for making Raiden look actually like a demon instead of a humanoid deity. Looks like Hero Builder though.

The religions/mythologies of Mortal Kombat has nothing to do with the real world religions/mythologies. It is merely inspired by it. The Elder Gods, the One Being and all, it is all made-up to fit the fantasy world that is Mortal Kombat. Raiden's name is inspired by the Japanese words, Rai being Lightning and Den being Thunder, if I am not mistaken. So saying that Raiden is buddhistic or shinto would be wrong, as he is actually from the MK mythos, not a real life one. Only inspired by it.

Also, the Hero Builders I have seen are much suckier than these ones, in my opinion. His style might be simple, but it is alot more detailed and better looking than anything I've seen from a hero builder.
(To those who do not know what a hero builder is, try look up Hero Machine and such on google and what not)

Yeah, I've seen Hero Machine before and I don't really see the resemblance. I guess it's just 'cause the ninjas' clothes and poses are almost identical?
'Cause that is on purpose. They're supposed to be not palette swaps but very close to it because story-wise those four all have actual reasons for trying to dress to look like each other.
My plan is to make their looks more individualized in MK2, but then almost the same again in MK3 because every ninja in 3 is a member of Kahn's military so they're basically in soldier uniforms. And of course, every alt will be the most radically different from everyone else.

Ermac: In his UMK3 bio, it says he was brought together by the souls of dead Outworld warriors, so maybe an Outworld Warrior motif could work

That's pretty vague. What does "an Outworld warrior" look like? Aren't half the characters in the game warriors from Outworld? And none of them dress the same except the ninjas, so he's already kinda dressed right.

I was referring to the generic warriors in MKA's Konquest, Kahn's personal guard mostly, but without that helmet.

Ahh. Well then, the "Kahn's soldiers armor" idea had already been considered. I'm inclined to use it for another character though, particularly Goro, since he's the General of Kahn's army.
