Kilvan's personal Bio:
Kilvan has been known through time by many names, such as Anubis to the ancient Egyptians. He became the servant to the god of Chaos many epochs ago, losing a previous bet, records of which were never created, these events happening long before the creation of even the Edenians. However, it is rumored that Kilvan was once the ruler of Chaosrealm, until Zaggot stole it from him.
Kilvan could be said to be the most despicable of the malevolent gods. Pain and suffering are his only pleasures, and he delights in inflicting torments upon all who cross his path. Vain and narcissistic, he views himself as the only being suitable to rule Chaosrealm, and despises his status as Zaggot's underling. However, the word of a god is not easily broken, and so through the aeons, Kilvan has remained loyal to his word, serving Zaggot.
Although quite the capable fighter (and the inventor of Toreador Muerta, a fighting style now used by some Netherrealm denizens involving mainly hand chops) Kilvan prefers to remain on the sidelines, setting traps for his opponents and watch as they suffer and bleed, rather than fight them directly. Once he administers a killing stroke, he truly feels he is accomplishing his duty as the God of death. He views the Mortal Kombat tournaments as a waste of time. For this love of cruelty, he was viewed as an abomination by the other gods, and when he chose solitary rule over Chaosrealm, leaving his place in the heavens, they were glad to be rid of him. Now under the command of Zaggot, Kilvan begins a plan to overthrow his ruler, and reclaim his lost realm.
Kilvan's Backstory and purpose:
In the places forbidden to mortals known only as the Chaosrealm and the Netherrealm, lurk many of the forgotten gods of old. The Netherrealm was home to Shinnok, the feared fallen elder god, known for his dark intent. However, other malign gods do exist, and the majority of them make their home in the Chaosrealm. Such is the case of the god of chaos, Zaggot.
Many thousands of years ago, when Shinnok was still amongst the elder gods, Zaggot, who was ruler of Chaosrealm, sensed the Elder god's dark nature and tempted him. They made a bet: If Shinnok could successfully wage war with the elder gods and emerge victorious, claiming the Heavens and Earthrealm as his own, Zaggot would wilfully hand over rule of Chaosrealm to him. However, if Shinnok lost, he would forever remain in thrall to Zaggot, as his subordinate. Shinnok accepted, and waged a war against Raiden and the elder gods, which he lost. But before Zaggot could claim his rulership over Shinnok, the latter was banished to the Netherrealm, lost from contact for aeons as he waged a war against Lucifer for the dominion of that realm.
Zaggot was infuriated. He could not openly rebuke the Elder Gods for their decision, for fear of a similar punishment upon their discovery of his bet with Shinnok. So he was contented to cut his losses, and ruled Chaosrealm in solitude.
However, in time, the god's paranoia overtook him. Zaggot discovered that Shinnok had kept scrolls of his deeds, and if those scrolls were to come into possession of the elder gods, then his doom was assured. He had his most feared subject, Kilvan, the God of Death, search for them, but to no avail.
Ages passed. Shinnok resurfaced from the Netherrealm as its leader, far more powerful than he had once been, and made an attempt to overthrow the Heavens once more, as well as Edenia. During this time, he announced his intentions to destroy the god of Chaos by using the scrolls he had kept, engraved with the details of their bet.
Zaggot would have none of it. In fear, he dispatched Kilvan to capture Shinnok and bring him before him in chains, along with the scrolls, but before he could, Shinnok was destroyed by Quan Chi's treachery. Kilvan returned to Chaosrealm, furious at the notion of his talents and time being wasted.
Zaggot was furious. His rightful property had been destroyed. What was worse, he now had no way of locating the scrolls. He dispatched Kilvan again, this time to destroy Quan Chi, but again was robbed of his vengeance, as Quan Chi was destroyed by the efforts of Raiden and his mortals. Kilvan again returned to Chaosrealm, his efforts made useless a second time, and becoming weary of his ruler's paranoia. He began to make plans of his own.
With the rise of the Dragon King, Zaggot's fears were made all the more horrible by the realization that Noob Saibot, once servant to Shinnok, and later to Shao Kahn, has now allied with the Dragon King, and has bestowed unto him the late Netherrealm Ruler's records. Zaggot dispatches Kilvan once more.
This time, Kilvan's mission is two-fold. He must kill the Dragon King, acquire Shinnok's scrolls, and return them to Zaggot. Also, he must destroy all those who have earned the god's wrath: Raiden, for banishing Shinnok to the Netherrealm, and his Earthrealm warriors, for destroying Quan Chi.
But Kilvan has plans of his own. Exhausted to the absolute limits of his patience by Zaggot's wanton whims, he will instead use the other God's blind dependence on him to his own advantage. He intends to use the scrolls against Zaggot once he obtains possession of them, and win his freedom by causing Zaggot's downfall. Then he will step into his rightful place as Chaosrealm's ruler.
Accompanied by his tiny faithful demon servant Piroh, he opens a portal into Outworld, takes on mortal form, and begins down the path that will lead to his freedom from incompetence and servitude, towards superiority and domination. Along the way, he chuckles to himself, in anticipation of the bloodshed, torments, suffering and death that is sure to come.
Character Description:
Kilvan is fearsome in appearance. His face is covered by a black steel mask. This mask has golden trim around the eye sockets, which taper down into a small line where a nose would be. There is a gash in the mask over the mouth, extending from one side to the next in a parody of a sadistic grin. This gash is very thin, and since the mask is constructed from steel, no mouth or jaw movement can be seen when he speaks. His eyes appear to be like those of a human, colored brown.
On his head, surrounding the mask, he sports a round black headdress, which extends to half a foot to either side of his head, as a half-circle. Small tabs of metal adorn this half-circle, extending from the head towards the edges. At the left tip of the headdress, dangles a small star. At the right tip dangles a small crescent moon. The headdress, at its hem, flows into a series of triangular flaps, which at their tips connect to blue jewels. These flaps cover a dark red robe which covers Kilvan's shoulders, upper arms, and the higher portions of his chest.
Below the robe he wears a leathery black suit with gold trim, extending into two tails behind him. The suit is tucked into golden steel gauntlets which feature demented claws at the fingertips, and the suit is as well tucked under a large hexagon-shaped emerald jewel affixed around his waist, from which dangle small golden chains.
Below the jewel are crimson red leggings which are tucked into yellow boots with black trim.
He is accompanied by all times by his tiny demon servant, Piroh, who wears a simple steepled hat and dark blue gown. A Cyclops, Piroh has one great eye and thin, cruel lips. No one knows what the connection between Kilvan and Piroh is, but they are never apart, the sole exception being when Kilvan fights. Piroh floats away, to rejoin Kilvan once the match is finished.
Kilvan's weapon, the Paralascythe, is a combination of a deadly weapon and a musical instrument. A great golden scythe with a wide blade, the handle is hollow, and features holes like those of a flute. When he plays this instrument, hypersonic waves are emitted which can cause temporary loss of sight, hearing, and paralysis, depending on Kilvan's preference.
Special Moves:
Tune of Despair: Kilvan plays a shrieking tune upon his Paralascythe, sending a hypersonic wave a short distance forward. If this connects, it will cause the enemy to stumble back, blinded and deafened (so yes, this affects Kenshi, too) - He may use this time to attack.
Phantom Razor: Kilvan performs the impossible by reaching into his headdress to one of the metal tabs there, removing a thin two-foot blade, and throwing it at the enemy. If this connects, it will remain in the enemy's body.
A Cruel Turn: Kilvan races forward and hacks with his scythe. If he connects, he will swing the opponent around and toss them a good distance away. Very good for breaking floors.
Sinsation: Kilvan jams the butt of his scythe into the enemy's face, and quickly uses the back to swing like a golfer and smack the enemy high into the air. Unlike "A Cruel Turn" and "Tune of Despair", this will automatically place Kilvan into Scythe fighting style if he uses it, so as not to abuse juggle combos.
Fatalities:
Serial Killer Thriller: Kilvan plays a discordant melody upon his scythe. The enemy stops all movement, completely paralysed, unable to do anything but scream. Kilvan takes the time to admire his scythe's blade. Turning toward the enemy with a sadistic cackle, he swings twice, with the second swing jamming the tip into the enemy's skull. All is still for a moment, until the enemy's body falls, separated at the neck by Kilvan's first slice. He hoists the head upon the scythe high, and chuckles.
Prime Evil: Piroh floats into the arena, and immobilizes the enemy with a light blast. As they vainly try to escape, Kilvan jams the blade of his scythe into his opponent's abdomen, and pulls. Stomach, intestines and whatnot spill forth. As his enemy screams in horror and anguish, he slowly slices them in half down the middle, bottom up.
Hara-Kiri: Painiac: Delighting in all agony, including his own, Kilvan slowly tears a hole in his chest with his scythe, giggling madly. He reaches in, and pulls out his own heart, stumbling forward and offering it over to the opponent. Still giggling uncontrollably as they step back, he falls over face first. Piroh floats over, and kneels by his side, weeping.
Signature Quotes:
1. "Your screams and wails...are the most beautiful melody..."
2. "Not even worth my time...wouldn't you agree, Piroh?"
Arena: The Locust Fields
Story:
Outworlders, like Humans, need food, and like us, they derive a great amount of sustenance from wheat-based products such as bread. It is obvious that they too, have a series of farms and plains where such granary is harvested. But again, like us, they have a problem: Crop vermin.
In one of Outworld's northern farmlands, close to five years ago, an immense plain existed, wheat stretching out as far as the eyes could see. It was one of Outworld's few attractive sites, and despite the fact that they performed labor for Kahn's benefit, the captured Edenians that were forced into slavery here found the scenery better than most. What was more, the supply was plentiful, so none ever starved, unlike the situations so familiar in the Emperor's cobalt mines. The Edenians worked well, and for the most part, were treated well by the guards stationed there, who also enjoyed the peace and tranquility presented by the environment.
That all changed on one day. A migrating swarm of omnivorous Hive Locusts, one of Outworld's most infuriatingly resilient of insectoid vermin, deviated from its migration course and came into view of the fields.
Disaster occurred. The swarm descended like an immense dark cloud, and instantly began to feed. The laborurers and guards fought a helpless battle against the quickly reproducing locusts that lasted for a full month, and finally retreated when their ranks had been thinned out too far by the swarm's flesh-eating tendencies.
For five years, the swarm has replicated and remained here, still in the process of consuming the grain. The entire area was decreed a hazard, off-limits to all, under the order of Shao Kahn. But with his fall, and the Dragon King's newfound reign, the fields have been reopened, and small numbers of his vast army have been charged with the task of eradicating the swarm, the King's intention being to reuse the land. All attempts are failing. It is unknown to all of Outworld's citizens, but the plague of Hive Locusts was released by Kilvan himself, as a practical joke. He sought to sow destruction, famine and death in Outworld for his own amusement.
Description:
A lone round platform high above the surface of the soil is the battleground. It was from here that the Outworld guards supervised the work taking place below. More like it can be seen in the distance.
The surrounding atmosphere below is horrid. The swarm of locusts (and the occasional Rotfly), being low-flying creatures, is so thick that the ground below can no longer be seen from this height. All that is visible is a writhing, seething mass of grey.
The sky above is dark, almost midnight blue, every now and then a high-flying pest circles overhead. A large, sickly, glowing full orange moon shines in the sky, chasing away the small pink trails of dusk that lurk at the horizon.
The arena is composed of but one level, the round battleground.
Arena Weapon: Whip (2): For those rare occasions when the Outworld guards had to use discipline on the workers. Located near the centre, and close to the edge.
Arena Interaction: As one moves closer to the edges, they are assaulted by several of the locusts that can fly at higher altitudes than the rest.
Arena Fatality/Death Trap: If one is unlucky enough to be ejected from the battleground, a sure death is all that awaits. The victim will be assaulted during free-fall by a moving stream of the swarm, his tissues in the process of being stripped from his body as he screams, and upon impacting with the ground, the corpse will be assaulted and stripped of its remaining flesh within seconds, leaving only a skeleton.

I love your idea about his weapon, how it is also a musical instrument that takes away your senses. It almost sounds like it could be a mythological character from greek mythology.
A very dreadful character indeed. I would recommend to have a picture drawn of him, I had a hard time actually picturing what he looks like I thought of him looking something like Nightmare from Soul Calibur exept with gauntlets and a robe. Mabey Jax007 could use his awsome talents to draw a picture of him?
I also love your idea for the stage, The Locust Fields. You even created a back story to it that was awsome. Midway needs a person like you to create ideas for them. I'm not trying to sound like an ass kisser either. Great Ideas.
Also, what inspired you to create a character like that? What did you get your ideas from?
As for my inspiration, it's a mixture of things, at least on Kilvan's part. Egyptian history and dres, traditional legend, medieval times...hell, I originally pictured Kilvan as a death-dealing jester of sorts, but I incorporated that into his personality. As for the instrument..well, as a kid, I remember wanting a guitar that could shoot bullets. I evolved the concept a little, and there we go: an 'instrument of death'.
