It's simple. You did a good job coloring for your first attempt. Next time try applying shadows.
3/5 Dragon Points.
Peace.

Thats the problem I don't know how to do the shadows thing. This is the first time I used photoshop. Can you tell me how I would do something like that? Also can you tell me how to add the light reflection affects on the skin and clothes.

not bad im going completely by the coloring since you didnt draw the picture, but it looks good, the shading i cant really help you on im not much of a photoshopper myself, but i always used the gradient tool, probobly why i suck at it no? Just fool around with things until you find something you like, i never had the patience to do it myself.

Oh man, I'm sorry, I haven't learn how to use Photoshop yet, sorry. You can ask Bleed or any other good artist who knows how to use it. I'll ask Bleed if he can help you.
[EDIT: Thanks cousin.]
Peace.

To make something round, you need 3 basic shades, a light, a regular, and a shadow.
Make a circle or a muscle. and imagine that it's 3 dementional. Now Think of where the light is coming from. The side where the light is hitting it would be light, the oppostie side would be dark and the middle would be the regular shade.
It's
Let's say the light is coming from
Left to Right, this is how you would do the shadows.
Light source-----> Light, med tone, Shadow.
Like that.
Take a look at the girl in your sign. The light is comming down from above, and look at how the light and shadow is on her.

I don't know why it took two people to replicate a picture out of the manual.

Answer: because my friend that sindel picture was one of my early pics(back when I was just getting into the drawing thing). mklover emailed me and asked if he could use my sindel pic as the first pic he colors in photoshop. I hope you understand now.

You need two things, the technique and the talent.
1. Technique - What's the best way to color a picture in Photoshop? There is no best way but here's one way. This links to a tutorial done by Peter Keres on Farp. It is a great starting point for how you can use Photoshop for coloring. By the way, you could also check the first post here in the fan art section. We listed a bunch of tutorial pages there.
2. Talent - Bleed's previous advise is a great start. Beyond that it's on you. Look for non-Photoshop related shading tutorials on the web. Look at reference photos, look at people around you. This is obviously the hardest part.
Practice, practice, practice
