Cyrax was programmed to serve the Lin Kuei as an automated assassin, but upon his liberation by Sub-Zero, and defeat of Sektor, he chose to destroy himself rather than become new Grandmaster. In doing so he destroyed the remaining cyber warriors, granting the clan a fresh start under Kuai Liang.

Liu Kang shared in the grim fate of Earthrealm's fallen warriors, becoming a revenant slave controlled by Quan Chi. His new master, and the fallen Elder God Shinnok were seemingly destroyed, leaving the corrupted Liu Kang to rise as new ruler of Netherrealm!
