WWE News: ECW To Return Full Time?
Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.23.2006
The rumors begin again.
WWE may be bringing back ECW as a full time entity. The plan looks to be for a September launch, but nothing is for sure. It is possible that the new ECW could take over the current OVW territory and that it will get "exclusive matches" on Raw and Smackdown. Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer would be in charge of the venture.
WWE is currently contacting former ECW names and sending them contracts. These talents are being offered three-year deals, which consist of a series of one-year contracts, with rollover clauses. WWE has been in contact with many performers, the Sandman, Francine and Balls Mahoney included. More should be available in the coming days on this latest news.

Lockdown was good, though a lot of the matches were disappointing for various reasons. Except the main event, which dispite being booked as a huge clusterfuck, was pretty good. AJ Styles is a lunatic, and climed on top of the roof of the cage with James Storm, set up a table, put Storm on it, then set up a wobbly ladder on top of the cage with the legs almost falling through the mesh (which would have caused him to fall about 40 or 50 feet to the concrete had he lost his balance even a tiny bit) and climbed the ladder, jumped up and grabbed onto the lighting rig hanging from the roof, shimmied accross, and hit a splash onto James Storm through the table on the roof of the cage. AJ also was involved in a mad tower of doom spot that saw him land wrong, and pretty much get brainbustered off the cage. Really, really dangerous.
Other cool stuff: Abyss getting unprettier'd onto tacks, Christian hitting a frogsplash off the cage, Christian powerbombing Abyss into tacks, Chase Steven's dangerous shooting star press off the cage... and a bunch of other cool shit I can't remember.
But yeah, the matches themselves were pretty sub par. The international X Div match was alright, but suffered from communication problems due to the language barriers. The other X Div match was alright, but typical and fairly predictable. Christopher Daniels mystery opponent was Low Ki, who had been renamed Sen Shi (or something), and their match seemed like it was all completely unplanned and done on the fly, so it was so-so. Sabu vs Joe was average, and somewhat short, because Sabu has a broken arm. The rest was pretty "meh".
Christy Hemme showed up out of nowhere which was cool, and delivered a letter to Tenay, who opened it and announed that Raven was reinstated (at which point Raven showed up).
They need to stop booking these multi man X Division matches and start booking those guys on one on one matches, because a one on one with any two of the dozen X Division guys would have been more memorable than what they had booked.

That spot with AJ off the set lights sounds insane. Can't wait to actually see it.
And I hope this means Low Ki is back, at least for a little while.

AJ's jump sounds nuts.
They are finally bringing TNA back onto Australian TV. It's only PPV but it's something. I watched it at a mates house just after they pulled it off.
So it's good that it's back. Hopefully one of the networks will pick up Impact! .
In WWE
The Undertaker needs to hurry up and destroy this great Kahli guy. I say bring back the inferno match.
I'm over this god and Eddie getting used to make storylines sorry, I meant money.

I'm not sure what chant the audience gave, or which one I would give, but the first one that comes to mind is:
'He's Ex-treme!!! clap-clap-clapclapclap' (repeat forever)
I have to see this one, sounds fucking crazy.

I believe it was..."Holy Shit" and "That/This is awesome". And thanks for the heads up on ECW.
Lockdown was unbelievable. And I say that as never having watched the first one last year (I'll have to get on it, I own it). The spots in the mainevent were right on, and aside from a few matches, I agreed with the crowd when they chanted..."This is awesome". Stinger looked great. No rust whatsoever.

To Add/Update:
** As reported here earlier, news has broken that WWE is planning on bringing back the ECW brand as a regular, full-time promotion later this year.
More information has become available regarding this major story:
* The official decision to bring ECW back was said to be finalized in the last week or so. The plan is to have the promotion return on a full-time basis in September.
* WWE is not looking to add a third day to their television schedule. Dave Meltzer reports that it would likely be handled similar to the Superastros deal in the late 90s, with weekly matches taped before either the Raw or Smackdown tapings.
* The ECW roster will feature a mix of both former ECW personalities and new WWE developmental wrestlers who have been working house shows under Paul Heyman. WWE is offering talent three year deals which consist of a series of one year contracts with rollover clauses. The Sandman, Francine and Balls Mahoney are all being sent contreacts this week.
* There are several members of the TNA roster that have been talked about as being prime candidates for ECW contracts when the time is right.
* Paul Heyman he will be in charge of the ECW brand, who will be booking, along with Tommy Dreamer. The McMahons are not believed to be part of the creative process.
* The plan is to run house shows and some form of weekly television as well as well. Should ECW secure regular television time, expect Joey Styles to be involved.
* As of now, there are two ECW PPVs scheduled - One Night Stand 2 (June '06) and One Night Stand 3 (June '07). It is quite possible there will be more ECW PPVs added to their annual lineup when the promotion goes full-time.

Oh noze, did I miss most of Raw again? Darn it. I did see the HHH, Cena, Edge segment, though. Haha, GG on HHH unloading on edge and lita. That was funny stuff. The facial expressions that were made when the spirit squad came out were hilarious. Especially edge, haha.
I've read HHH will be turning face, maybe even ending his career as one.
Edit: Oh, and I gues Lesnar is out of the WWE no compete clause. He can work overseas and for MMA events, but no TNA, haha. Also, he's looking to get into some MMA. That's pretty sick. If he can take a punch, I wouldn't be suprised to see him do pretty well.

Sabu has actually signed a contract with WWE now. He wasn't under contract with TNA before, just working from show to show... Merry early Christmas Blade!
I wish I went to that ROH show. I could have seen Super Dragon being his typical self, fucking people's shit up, live! I knew I shouldn't have changed my avatar...

Dude, I think I'm going to cry. Thank you. Thank you so very much.
Please God, I know I'm pushing my luck, but please, convince Tazz to come back, and maybe even the Franchise Shane Douglas (yes I know that bridge is burned, but never say never in WWE).

Tazz will never work regularly again 'cause a)he's had neck problems and becoming a wrestler again would only make things worse and b)he's very happy in his new role.
As for Shane, think about it this way: The day you see him or Jarrett back in WWE, the other will also return soon after (but never Nailz ).

The Tazz I know, the Tazz I met, the Tazz I saw live on many occasions would say 'Fuck the neck injury, let's rumble you pussies.'.
Same could for sure be said about Sabu, New Jack, RVD, and most other ECW guys.
Oh, and Nailz is one of the all time coolest people to ever live. EVER.

Brock Lesnar and WWE settle lawsuit
April 24, 2006
World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. and former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar have mutually agreed to settle a lawsuit that has been pending over the past year in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Lesnar, who originally filed the lawsuit against WWE in February 2005 asking the court to declare his non-competition agreement unenforceable, has decided not to discuss the details of the settlement agreement due to its confidentiality.
WWE is very pleased with the outcome of the litigation, and believes that the settlement agreement appropriately protects WWE's substantial investment in Brock Lesnar's wrestling character.

Agreed, to a sense. It's not much of a choice right now, but once TNA improves a little more, then there can be some real competition.

If TNA dies (Hopefully not!) ROH will probably be next up because ROH is just like TNA but with more and IMO better stars, and It would be like a mix of TNA and ROH now. I think that would be pretty cool but just the ROH belts not the TNA belts, No X division just Pure wrestling and huge brawls.
