NetherRealm Studios Developing WWE Immortals Mobile Game

NetherRealm Studios Developing Free-to-Play WWE Mobile App

World Wrestling Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are about to be partners in mobile gaming!

In the tradition of Midway Entertainment's Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game; NetherRealm's mobile development team -- in association with Phosphor Game Studios -- will launch an all-new, free-to-play app in 2015 called: WWE: Immortals!

Gamespot reports the game will feature "... epic Superstar battles in a fantastically re-imagined WWE world." To date, corporate parent Warner Bros. have released no other information or materials.

NetherRealm has had considerable success with their Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile. Launched in 2013; Injustice Mobile has had a string of on-going updates, including a 2.0 multi-player revamp. It is unknown if Immortals will employ the same card-based battle system when it arrives on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices. WWE currently has WWE: SuperCard - a card collecting App from 2K Studios, released in August.

WWE and Warner Brothers previously announced a partnership in November, granting Warner Bros. Home Entertainment distribution rights to WWE programming starting January 1, 2015.

WWE kind of left a bad taste in my mouth after the whole CM Punk thing. But I'll give the game a try since it's free. And if Fandango is a playable character, all the better.

I'm glad NRS is doing other things but mobile gaming is such a waste of potential. Haven't they proven they can do good things? Why give them such low grade projects? And lastly,

I saw this yesterday. First thing I thought was that it means a group of people are getting some work. It can be tough to land work in the game dev industry (or anywhere) so some sub-group of NRS getting a paycheck for 8+ months is a good thing. We all know that most high-profile dev studios bring in additional temp staff for projects, and that likely applies to this game as well.

It also means that WB are happy with what NRS have done for them to keep getting extra work like this. Good news all around, really.

Waa, how dare Netherrealm Studios have part of their team working on something that isn't Mortal Kombat. How dare they not keep everyone updated on releasing every ounce of X material before April 14th!!!

Waaaa....

Been wondering why I kept seeing a bunch of job opportunities open up for working on mobile. Now I see why. Weird that it's wrestling (And I don't care for WWE anymore because I've stopped watching once Edge and Shawn Michael called it in) but glad to see they're working on other stuff.

A) They've partnered with another mobile developer.
B) They've built up a strong mobile development team who've done solid on-going work on Injustice.

If you want to scream and holler about diverted attention, the only thing you should be screaming about is a hypothetical MKX mobile game.

I watch WWE and yes, it is boring. The Attitude Era was great!

As for this? It's a bloody waste of their time. They could be working on an MKX mobile game instead or even IGAU 2.

So will Austin be throwing beer cans as a special move? Drowning his victim in beer or milk as a finisher/super move? Flip the middle finger and say " 'Cause Stone Cold said so", as a taunt? Lmao, no thanks!

I certainly won't be downloading this game on my Tablet.

All this defending got me thinking about how this game will actually end up. Anyone think this game will have anything in common(aesthetically or otherwise) with the unreleased WWE Brawl?

Just announced on Raw that WWE Immortals will have a release date of January 15. I personally can't wait to give it a try.
