My favorite time to be around this forum was probably the build-up of Deception. That was also the summer I joined the forum so it might hold a bigger place in my heart because of that.
Funny times was also all of BoonnooB's (I CRUSHE YOOU) posts, the MK vs. DC shitshow, and the MK9 leak.

Holy shit, yes. I have a version of this saved on my computer too!
Man, I forgot we got you to shave your facial hair into a Hitler 'stache. That was fantastic.

The voice chat on tinychat (I believe) was awesome.
My personal favorite was making sigs for people back when that was a thing.

Going back to the BoonnooB saga, I remember one of his posts was absolutely fucking hilarious. He got skulled for it, but was totally worth it. He always had great posts.

Figured I'd pop in real quick since a few of my old friends came back to share their stories. Some of my favorite memories include:
- The nights spent on Tinychat with my closest MKO buddies.
- Discussing story progression, character bios, and general franchise lore.
- Getting into the nuts and bolts of MKA and MK '11, posting combos, and feeling the hype for EVO and other major tournaments.
- Drive-By Thread. I still hate that it's gone.
- Having the opportunity to make a difference here via moderating and contributing to the staff.
Unrelated:
I see that the layout is more... centered now. I guess one giant block of black screen wasn't enough, might as well have two! Also, who approved these new themes? Three of them look like an LSD-induced vomiting spree and the fourth (Kano) just adds more black where it isn't needed, solely to differentiate it from the Kenshi (which is simply Ermac with black link text, woo boy the changes are drastic) theme. Seriously, someone please tell me that this wasn't the site update we'd waited years for. Actually wait, never mind. I already know the answer to that question. The fact that the default theme has almost as much of the vote as the four actual new themes combined says a lot. I'm gonna catch shit for this, but I don't care since I won't be here to read it. I checked out months ago. Good talk guys, keep in touch.

Wow...Where do i begin.
Well, firstly, I had to make a new account because I'm 4 e-mail addresses removed from the one i used here. I joined in like...2004? 2005 maybe? I was gnrlies1992. This was, no joke, the first site i ever joined. I was pumped for Armageddon. Pumped beyond belief. I didn't know how this sort of site worked at the time, so they had the user of the week thing at the bottom of the front page, and i started adding any and everyone from that to my buddy list. The only person i remember adding was Shadaloo because of his sick Smoke avatar.
I recently searched myself. You can tell I was just a kid. Posting stupid things and getting in heated debates over nothing. I remember the Drive-By thread where i got into an argument with Ninja_Mime about if Axl Rose (Circa 2004) could kick Scott Weiland (R.I.P.)'s ass. I remember this dude Fetus_Stomper and i had beef that spilled into personal messages.
I remember making a second account and it getting banned and contacting someone about it, only to be shot down about reopening it, haha.
I remember posting in the wrestling thread like no other! That was my home! It was the first place i got to talk to anyone about wrestling (it isn't really that popular in small town, Ohio). I defended TNA until my last e-breath of my old account. I still vividly remember news of Chris Benoit dying and how much that rattled the whole thread. We went from joking and complaining, to mourning and disbelief, to scolding and degrading. It was a whirlwind, but it was my only outlet and i am forever grateful to everyone in that thread.
I remember being so psyched to try an earn dragon points in the Signature contests! I downloaded GIMP and everything. I was awful, but i was so desperate to be "cool" like the other people who weren't just Mortals.
I wasn't like a...big time member, or a "veteran" or anything, and i don't expect anyone to respond or remember me. But i recognize just about every longtime name on here still. I just happened to revisit this site on a whim, just to see what was all going on. This place is the cornerstone of me becoming connected to the internet. It was my outlet when i was sad, or bored, or angry, or alone. This was like my first family. And this spawned me onto different sites and different forums and really broadened my entire horizon about what the internet could do. I will always be thankful for this site existing and the users that inhabit it. You guys are all awesome and i love you.
Thanks for all the amazing memories. I hope to stick around for a few more

Holy shit, I haven't posted here in years.
Where do I even start?
Looking back, I'm pretty embarrassed about how I used to act in this forum around 2006 or so. A lot of pointless flame wars. I was 16 then, and very immature/angry. I'm 26 now.
But there were some good times, I loved making sprite comics for the community, even if half of them sucked. Loved pow-wowing with the likes of br0s3ph, chrome, Ninja-Mime, deadly dragon, etc.
Good to see MKO still among the living.

It's great to see this site still running after so many years!
I was a member way back in the mk5.org days (just did a quick look on archive.org to reminisce).
So many fun discussions back in the day. It seems the history of posts only goes back to 2003, but I see some back then that I was involved in that make me laugh. A lot of immaturity back in the younger years haha...i'm now in late 30's so most of us from back then would almost have children coming on here soon haha
I remember trying to start a new thread to get dragon points, but never knowing how close to getting to the next level.
Anyways, lets hope it's another 15 years this site is still running

This just gave me the chills. I remember the good old days anticipating some MK5 news from the 2002 E3, and also I remember adema performing live there.
Anyone remember the early e3 beta mkda select screen we never got?
And I also miss the ps2 online/xbox live forum sections! Why were they even taken down instead of being updated?

Wow, I can't believe I remembered my password. Minor miracle. It's probably been a decade since I posted last (what did I miss??),
My favorite MK5.org/MKO memory is engaging with the wonderful, obsessive, argumentative, utterly amazingly creative community. The forums, IRC rooms, fansites, etc. It was a huge part of my online life for a very long time, and I forged several lasting friendships from it. Those friends and I worked on a ton of MK-adjacent art projects and such things around then (sites, images, mods, *almost* a full-blown MK:DA flash parody game), usually stretching the bounds of good taste. But it was a lot of fun, and in a roundabout way the interest of web development that started with the sites we worked on led me to my current career, which is crazy to think about.
Anyway: Thanks to the staff, admin, and community members, past and present, for making this such a special place. Take care!

I remember (still type it) mk5.org in the Deadly Alliance days of 2002. Waiting 30 mins to watch it's trailer.
There was a thread I think pre Armageddon ranking all the Kombatants. Everyone rated each one out of 100 I think. Sub Zero was first he scored 94/100. Then after everyone got cynical. They thought Scorpion would end up winning. He finished 10th on like 78. Top 3 were Sub on 94 Kahn on 92 and I think Kung Lao on 84
