Just wondering, what are the chances of your Xbox being f***ed by installing or using a mod chip?.
I have a MOD chip but I want to sell it.

Well, I have one for my PS2 but I sold it while I was at Colombia and I'm getting the new PS2. The games just don't work well when they're illeagal. If they did, I would have beaten Manhunt furious

The idiots who use a mod chip for Halo on XBC to get an "advantage" would probably get their ass handed to 'em without it.

For the record, I worked pretty heavily in the Halo Xbox modding scene when it first started, and I'm fairly certain there is no way to really cheat in it online. The majority of people I play online when I host say that I cheat, and while it is true I have a modchip, I don't cheat. People just don't realize how much of an advantage the host has.

This is due to the system link protocol Halo uses. Halo distributes packets from clients every 40ms, and expects to receive them from the server every 40.001ms. So the server receives all packets much quicker than the clients receive them, thus creating lag. No matter who you play, the host will have the advantage indefinitely. Which is why I don't play as much anymore -- it just isn't fair to anyone but the host.

But that's away from the subject. Cheating isn't possible because of how many packets are sent in the system link protocol to check against inconsistent information. There is no way to have 'auto-aim' or anything like that, and there never will be. The damage for each weapon cannot be increased or decreased without matching modifications done across the game. The most one can cheat would be to replace textures in the environment, as those are not passed through or checked by the protocol. So walls could be semi-transparent with enough work. The textures could possibly be replaced with the glowing green field for the teleporter, but it would be hard to see through. Though it is pretty unlikely that one would find someone on XBC that knows how to do that.

Moral of the story, don't assume people cheat on XBC. More than likely they aren't.

Funny you asked, i was just at my buddy's dorm last night, and his xbox is modded. He has mame, genesis, snes and nes emulators, as well as the numerous games he's rented and "kept" on the harddrive. Best night ever... I'm definitely getting mine modded with a 120 gig hd.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, and it's more than enough. Let's say you're playing CTF in BG. You're camping inside your own base and the person you're playing against will know where you are if they used the "glass wall" hack, kill you, and take your flag.

At the same time, let's say the other team gets your flag. You go to their base and wait for them to arrive to recover your flag and take theirs. If they have the hack, they'll know WHERE you're waiting for 'em.

Pure bullshit, if you ask me.
