In your opinion, what is the best Konquest among the three Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era MK's?
Methinks it's the MK Deception version. The Deadly Alliance version while offering lots of fun for sheer replayability and lets u earn koins, it does become tedious in the long run though you need to finish each character's mode to unlock Blaze and Mokap (a piece of shit character). The Armageddon version on the other hand has tons of action and offer an alternative way of unlocking costumes and stages. What keeps it from being the best is that it is a quickie game. After you play it, you don't hope to play it again unless you want to go back to the stages to find missing items in your inventory. Armageddon Konquest is also story oriented so you don't get to play it with other characters like Scorp or Subs for example.
On the other hand, Deception's Konquest is just too good. Roaming and exploring various realms and searching for koins and unlockables, this beats all those other fantasy games. It has a lot of subtlety and depth not found in the other Konquests. Here there is a dimension of Bo Rai Cho not seen before and he could well be the Jesus H. Krist of fighting games, he's just full of good will, always pushing the young Shujinko to do his best. The guys who developed this mode (Ed Boon included) are fucking geniuses indeed. They deserve a bonus for such an accomplishment.

Shaolin Monks. You couldn't fight in free roam in MKD, and in MKA the story was rushed with too many limitations on gameplay (no jumping=WTF). If MKSM had no cheesy dialouge, then that would be the perfect conquest.

I couldn't agree more, Shaolin Monks was awesome and had plenty of unique challenges and replay value. Two problems for me however was the co-op glitches ie. sub's/scorp's voices and how there were not so many characters to unlock for multiplayer!

MKSM was not a Konquest mode. I understand your relation though.
MKSM is clearly better than MKDA, MKD or MKA's because it is it's own game. Its unfair to compare the 2.

MKA's konquest was atrocious. I didn't enjoy it at all, it was more of a task than it was a game.
I loved MK Deception's konquest, very good story, very fun to roam the realms. I would have loved to see each character have a konquest.

Depth vs length.
Deception had the length, with more realms, longer gameplay.
Armageddon had the depth, with free fighting, and detailed environments.
I couldn't say for sure, but both are vastly superior to Deadly Alliance's, what is effectively, just a training mode with story-mode dialogue.
And yeah, it's kind of unfair to include Shaolin Monks.
With Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon, the konquest modes are a side feature, with the fighting mode as a main.
Where as in Shaoin Monks, the konquest mode IS THE MAIN feature, and the fighting mode is just the side feature.

MKD. It has a feel like THUG 2 for the GBA. It was more a "checklist" type of konquest mode (when you have to work with the characters to utilize the different fight styles and combos). Plus, you unlock a lot more stuff here, like bonus characters, bios, etc. Similar to MKA.
As for MKSM, I haven't quite gotten into it that much.

I like MKDA best. It was a great way to tell the story of each characters beyond just bios and endings, it's a shame the feature wasn't revisited again. It really helped to give the game a strong story and atmosphere... if that makes any sense.
MKD had a lot in terms of content, it was a fun way to actually see for once the different realms and just talk to the characters. The timeline is wonky as hell and Shujinko is a tool, but it was still an interesting way to teach the fighting styles of all the characters.
MKA was fun. We got a glimpse of some interesting character interactions, such as the Tekunin vs. the Special Forces, and Kano being captured by the Red Dragon. It's a shame the game was never finished, if the bios were included it would probably have been a good story, rather than just a few ideas that went nowhere.
They all have good and weak points.

I like MKD konquest the most because after you completed you got to use shinjuko as character which was really a good character. That would be kinda of cool if they put him in the new Mortal Kombat.

In terms of "fun" for me...
I like Deception's Konquest.
Secondly I like Armageddon's, then DA's.
DA's is last because once I played Deception and Armageddon, I realized how much smoother the combos were, compared to DA's.

Oh MK deception. hands down. I loved MKA's konquest, but it just did not feel as deep and interactive as MKD's. MKA is was just to linner.
But MK deception has this great amount of freedom, and the story is so cool and emersive.
