I live in New Zealand (PAL Country) and own a XBOX (because that is all I can affor financially) and was saving up for MK Armageddon until I heard this piece of news.

Any of you know whether having your XBOX mod-chipped will allow you to switch to NTSC and play an NTSC version of the game on a PAL XBOX?

I dunno about Australia, but in the U.K. we already pay way more for games than people do in the USA (in some cases twice as much), so thats hardly any incentive to get PAL user to buy the game. If anything it'd put more people off.

It's easy... Microsoft make compatible the Xbox version to 360, and the PAL Version will be released for sure...

The NTSC version of "Shaolin Monks" is region free, you can use it with a PAL xbox, so maybe ...

Well that is something i never thought i would read about. What would be the justification behind this? Not enought sales? or possibly that they couldn't get the online component to work with PAL and NTSC so they scrapped the whole game?

This really doesn't make any sense at all. I never knew that there were "region free" games, if that is the case then at least that is an option, and may even come out cheaper than a local release for some. Would it still work with LIVE though?? If it isn't region free though, there are options to play an NTSC version, but then you won't be able to play on LIVE, but at least you will get to play the game.

Go whine over your $600 overpriced peice of Junk like all the other good Sony fanboys are doing these days.

Firstly : Of course they were better.Just look at the proportion.The USA is easily twice times bigger than Europe.

Secondly : mostly original products being always saled better in the country of it ́s origin(unless the foreign country where the product is saled has a bigger population).I ́ll try to explain what I mean.

You know,Pizza is an original Italian product and that ́s why the most Pizzas are being saled in Italy.Mercedes is an original German product and therefor the most Mercedes are being saled in the country of the Krauts.Mortal Kombat is an original American product and hence the most Mk games are being saled in the USA.

Thirdly : In terms of Germany,Mk was forbidden since MK2 and became legal not until MKDA.I don ́t know if this was the case in other European countries,though I can imagine it well.Based on this difficulties it ́s not astonishing that Mk had not all-too high sales figures yet in Germany(Europe).

It's not just Midway man, Microsoft is partially to blame as well.Besides, people can either do what Nemesis said above or if they can't do that, simply order this shit online.SInce the N version doesn't work on the PAL version, this sounds crazy but it's work.Order an Xbox from the states along with MK:A.What can I tell ya?

At this point, what choice do you have if this does turn out to be true indeed by the time of release?It sucks though for the PAL region, or perhaps you can get a PS2 or Wii later on for the Xbox PAL people.Just trying to think of a plan B and C for you guys.

NTSC stuff runs at 60hz PAL stuff runs at 50hz
Importing an Xbox and mkA is not really an option for everyone for a start u would need a step down converter to use it power wise
also not all TV'S (PAL) People have accept an NTSC signal either
people have to renember (Mostly people who live in the u.s) how different PAL stuff is to NTSC especially with video games....

How was that a stupid comment? People can own other consoles so they can have more diverse choices when it comes to games. If you can't afford two, then that's fine, but if you have enough money for two, you should take the opportunity. Get one later if you have to.

Not getting the game I imagine. There wasn't premium packs for Pal last time. I didn't care. Compared to not getting the game the premium editions don't even matter.

The rumour coming from my MS rep here in Australia
is that the Xbox will be official canned/discontinued before the game
is due for release and they do not want new software coming to the
console as they do not want to offer support for it.


This is not official but i manage a shop here in Aus and have
no reason to doubt my source.
