im mad, liu kang is a zombie, and sub is not in his newest kostume, is that guy in front of liu kang jerek? and who the hell is meat!!?? i keep hearing about a guy named meat. and i have never seen him, ive been a big mk fan since i was 3, and im turning 15 feb 9th! i have never seen a guy named meat.
Zod I'm over 10 years older than you. That makes me feel old. I was 12 when the original MK hit the arcades. Anyway...
Meat wasn't really a character, per se. He was a hidden skin for all of the characters in Mortal Kombat 4. If you input a certain code before you selected your character, then your character would take the form of Meat when the game started. Same moves, same fatalities etc as normal, they just had no skin or muscle and were just a red skeleton. They were Meat :)
Meat also has a cameo in the Konquest mode in MK: Deception. It's quite amusing too :)

Did Blaze had that "hole" in his chest in MKDA? =S
Not that I know of.

Here's an MK4 screenshot of Quan Chi morphed into Meat:

reeks of awesomeness
People, the renders from the magazine is not what the characters will look like in the end. They just took renders from the recent games that the people were in, except the few people who didn't make it into 3D until now, and posted it all in one picture. I'm sure everyone will have brand new outfits.
That's cute, you don't think Midway is lazy.

Don't be ignorant. It won't be their final outfits.

It's experience, not ignorance. Midway is lazy, look at the re-used fighting styles of MKD, just shifted to different characters. Or the fact that damn near every character is the same in MK4, projectiles being the biggest difference, and sometimes not even that. Or better yet, MK Trilogy, which MKA is following up on. How many returning fighters got new looks in Trilogy? None. Hell, let's go back to MK1. Remember why Subby and Scorpion look so similar? It was easier for the team.
So don't call me ignorant when you're the one who believes the MK team is going to put forth extra effort for you when 14 years experience says otherwise.
He's basically Mavado meets Kung Lao. That's laziness (or a way to save time!). We may be entering a new age here, not one of palette swaps, but of model swaps.
Rain is a thin attempt to disguise a character as new.
Rain sucks to the max!
Whether his storyline is salvaged, remains to be seen, but I think Rain's in-game model is going to look the same on the date of release as it does now... And for now it looks poop!
If they sorted out the hair and veil, touched up a few other details too, I would forgive him a little. Just a little.
EDIT:
JIGSAW:
No, I didn't. I dare say that costume details are more obviously swapped, though I know you're right about the torso swapping. I hadn't noticed it, but looking back, I can see it.

I have to conquer on Midway's laziness. I agree, They are lazy. But remeber that the time saved on the characters is more time improving gameplay, graphics ect. So mabye, I don't know, it's not cutting corners, its just improvment in most areas at the expense of one area.

MK Trilogy has nothing to do with MK:A... Trilogy was a "best of" so to speak game so it just used the same sprites and storylines as the previous games - it's a compilation of the previous MK games, not a game with its own story like MK:A is, even though there are some that have failed to realise this yet.

MKA may have it's own story, but in spirit it's still Trilogy part 2.
I'm expecting Midway to be lazy to the point where there's the usual glitches in the game (since no matter how much time they have, they still rush to market with crappy games), but I also think it's important to thank Midway for giving the series a last hurrah.
I've been playing since MKII (when I was in my early 20s) and I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas over this title.
I'm also hoping for more than two costumes (like Dead Or Alive does), but I'm keeping my expectations low.
I'm looking forward to playing characters like Stryker (loved his grenade-gat combo), Sareena (since I never played her), Sektor (loved his heat-seeking missile, direct-fire missile combo...MISSILES EVERYWHERE!), but I'm also interested to see the fighting styles they give to characters like Stryker, et. al., who weren't in MK:DA or MK: Deception.
Anyone care to speculate what Stryker's fighting styles will be or what any of the other character's fighting styles will be?

I like MK: Shaolin Monks. YAY! Adventure!
so no "Bob" and no "Monster" huh?
60+ characters my ass...
Monster just has all Scorpions moves. What fun would that be? He was referred to as 'Monster' in the first place because he was a monster, not because it's his name. If he was important enough to be in this, he'd have a name. It's like calling Shujinko 'Man'. Then he wouldn't be important enough to be in it.
