That movie was awful. But still, the reason why it performed so bad was because there wasn't an audience for it. I could only see gay men and girls liking that movie. A lot of it was about fashion.

Like I said, it wouldn't hurt to have Halle Berry catwoman as an alternate.

I thank God everyday that I didn't see that movie. anyways, even though Catwoman hasn't been announced {and I really hope she isn't since DC can't be so shitty they have to resort to Catwoman} doesn't mean she can't think about it. I want Lobo and Doomsday since they're the only good DC characters IMO. I also want just MK:8 and not MK vs DC. What would have been so hard about giving the fans what they want? WHAT BOON!? well back on topic, Catwoman may have some following but I doubt she'll be in the game.

Noone's accusing MK fans of being experts in anything, but what's with the widespread prediliction for one-note shitty characters from the nineties?... Actually, no need to answer. One need only say that aloud to conjure images of fans delighting in the return of Scorpion's palette swap outfit, and various other reductions of homogeny.

I suppose in that respect, the most disposable of comic characters are probably among the best for the MK game. Ride on, Doomsday!

Catwoman is your favourite action movie? You seriously must be stoned or something... the movie IS SO FUCKING HORRIBLE IT HURTS. Even Hale Berry admited she was ashamed of having been part of such an abominable piece of crap.
Catwoman's costume in that movie looked like a depraved bitch. Sliced pants?
WTFFF??!! And that dark skin tone.... just does not feal right. I mean, Catwoman is supposed to be cold and you put a darkly skined actress? Give me a fuckin' break.

The one and only Catwoman title, belongs to Michelle Pfeiffer's role in Batman Returns. The costume is really amazing, Selina Kyle is much beautifull than Hale's character wich i'm proud of not even remembering the name, her growing insanity with traits of masochism and double personality is just disturbingly delicious.

Batman Returns is one of my favourite movies.

Halle Berry did look sexy in the outfit. But this is coming from a white dude who is obsessed with carmel skin women, in the first place. lol.

But as far as outfits. MP's looked best. The shiny leather rocked.

My memory of things from so long ago is pretty fuzzy, mind you, but I'm pretty sure that, as a young child, the first time I ever became aroused, Michelle Pfeifer in that vinyl catsuit was the cause.

I don't know why I'm sharing this story, other than maybe to say that, I feel, that gothy fetish-gear look is the entire point of the character's appeal, and a black chick in ripped leather pants isn't just part of a bad movie, it's missing the point altogether.

Doomsday was actually pretty important, he freakin' killed Superman. He also helped fight Imperiex {i think that's his name} and eventually he became sentient {if I remember correctly} so they could actually do something with his character.

That's the character's one-note. The character was created and defined by that single event, and nothing that's come since has changed that at all. Lazy trinket efforts have been made to try to have the cake and eat it too, but for the most part the character was best left dead.

I'd defy you to come up with one shred of a reason Doomsday's role in the Death of Superman is important. It's an ultimately inconsequential moment of unmotivated violence with very little depth or creative merit.
Doomsday's "importance" begins and ends in 1993.

Again, not surprisingly speaking to the sensibilities of the MK audience, but none the less disappointing.

I'm going to assume you don't know about how he was killed while fighting along side Superman against Imperiex and some how came back since you've yet to comment about it and/or give me an arguement against it. {I think Brainiac did something that brought him back after his remains were taken to Apokolips} that or you're just ignoring it. His role in Superman's death was important since he killed him. Nobody had ever done that, and then Doomsday comes along and they beat each other to death.

How exactly is that important?...
And what makes you think stories that prolong the agony of the character; team him up with the man he's "important" for killing; or give him emotions and caring; are at all examples of significance?

This is a character inevitably defined by one moment in time.
Wikipedia summaries and short stack of Action back issues don't change that. The point isn't whether or not this character has existed this long -- but that there's very little admirable about Doomsday. Particularly when you're talking about narrowing down the pantheon of DC characters for ten or eleven slots in an MK game.

MK is a joke because of a penchant for distractions lacking any depth.
Doomsday is exactly that. I'm not saying it's entirely unreasonable to consider the character, but a fork's a fork.
MK fans continue to gravitate toward one-note keepsakes from one of the most embarassing decades of comics. To lazily meander around these lows and not expect critique is silly. Particularly for those whose constant misinterpretations haven't hindered their ability to over estimate themselves and their bredth of perspective.

(And yes. It's 6:30 Sunday morning and I'm ignoring some things because I'm tired and already over elaborating...)

It was important because it led to something new. It could have been anyone to kill him really, but it was Doomsday. Not Brainiac or Lex Luthor or any of those big villains people recognize, but that insignificant character called Doomsday. His whole purpose of being made was to kill Superman, so of course that one event will make him stand out. I told you like five times, I don't like DC. I'm not going to be Mr. DC Expert so I'm not going to know everything about it. I know a bit more than you give me credit for but I still don't know all the big things. With that being said, it doesn't change the fact that I'm gonna like Doomsday even if his chances of being in the game are low.

Couple of things...Halle didn't ruin Storm. If anything, the writers and director did that. If the character was ruined at all. I can't comment on Catwoman, I didn't see it, though I thought the costume looked...odd with the ears and lingerie fringes. But it's Halle Berry, she couldn't have looked BAD in the outfit.

Only a white woman should play the character? give me a break, please. There's one good reason a white person might have a hard time portraying Storm, given her origin as an African orphan. Of course, I don't think the movies went into that detail, so that's Halle's fault, right?

Catwoman, in truth could be played by anyone hot enough to fit the outfit. Put Halle in Michelle's suit and I wonder if the opinions would change?

Just wondering...anyone happen to remember Earha Kitt...?

Halle Berry herself was a great casting choice as a "version" of Catwoman. However the script was horrible as was the film. And this is coming from someone who was praising the movie as GREAT before it even was released. I defended the movie to no end on various forums, including Superhero hype. I made a complete website to the movie and the previous Catwoman that have been portrayed on the silver & small screen. I put up flyer's around my neighborhood, slipped them into peoples mail boxes. I did anything and everything to promote Catwoman the movie as much as I could. And then the day came to see the film and I left the theater feeling like I'd been freshly crapped on lmao. It seems like they took an idea from Batman the Animated series and just ran with it.

I don't know if any of you guys remember the episode "Feat of Clay" about Matt Hagen aka Clayface and how he became addicted to a cosmetic facial cream that was being distributed by Dagget, and finds that the product has odd side effects. he is able to mold his face into any shape he wants and when he stops using the cream, his face starts to literally melt away. That's basically the same plot for Catwoman movie, except Beau Line made the user beautiful and their skin hard like living marble. And when the consumer stops using the product they age rapidly and become horridly scarred shells of them former selves.

Blah, but enough about this movie. I don't think that they should include Halle's Catwoman in the game and highly doubt DC would ever agree or allow it to happen considering the detest the film was shown by a majority of everyone who saw the movie, besides a handful. Stick with the Catwoman from the comics, otherwise they might as well call it MK vs Otherworld DC Characters.

I liked Catwoman with Halle Berry, I thought she was extremely hot in it! the costume was amazing!
heck, I even bought it when it came out, its not the greates movie ever, but certainly not the worst. it was entertaining.
but, i gotta admit, the best catwoman so far goes to michelle pfeiffer hands down.
she played that role very well, the psycho split personality was great.

I'm going to disagree as respectfully as I can. Would it be accurate to cast a white actor as Shaft? And Indian actor as Legolas?

If you believe in fictional essence, the answer is no, no one could do that. It would simply be a different character who is qualitatively the same (even that's false to extent, since one quality is now gone). Physical appearance is just as much sewn into the character as say personality (maybe more so, since personalities are in a constant state of becoming).

If you deny such as thing as objective fictional essence, that means that you could make a version of superman that is

A) a midget

B) has no superpowers

C) has virtually no moral sense

... and that character would be just as much superman as the early DC version. I don't think you're willing to concede that. Again, no disrespect, but when someone imitates a past character with different essential attributes, that person has created an alternate essence; in other words, it is a different character. Not saying that's a good or bad thing, just a different character that is qualitatively similar. Berry didn't truly instantiate Cat woman's character.
