They should never end up together. Way too sugar-coated happy. I'd prefer he stayed dead. No more love interests for Kitana.

Why does everyone oppose this? I'd actually prefer them together, should he be resurrected. This would work for the better.

As long as the series doesn't become all gothic/emo, I'm fine.

gothic/emo stuff sucks and there is too much of it in media.

Keep MK violent but give it some more humor!

Because it's a lame relationship that does nothing for Kitana. The sooner they're separated the better.

I'm going with XiahouDun84 on this one. Liu Kang is better off dying and ascending to the Heavens while Kitana either retires or has a new path in her story should she return.

I say let them be together. It may open up an interesting story for the entire series. If there were a union between an earth warrior(In particular, the current MK champion) and the rightful heir of Edenia, it might place both realms in jeopardy at the same time, should another menace arise. Not really interested in elaborating further on this, but, who says no one should have a happy ending in MK?

Liu Kang has to uphold his duty as the Champion of Mortal Kombat and defender of Earthrealm, hence why he turned down Kitana's offer after Shinnok's defeat. And besides, Liu Kang's story has had its run.

You misunderstood what I meant. I know about Liu Kang turning Kitana down in his MK4 ending. But, what if they decided to get married but each residing in their own realm, meeting every so often....Dunno why that idea is reminding me of another storyline, but anyway, What if there was a child between the two? not completely of Earthrealm, not completely Edenian. What kind of storylines can be created from something like this? If not a child, then just the fact that Liu and Kitana broke some kind of law between the realms. I don't know, but it seems like something interesting could come from it.


As for Liu's story being done, that's debatable.

I agree with Liu's story not fully done yet. There are some paths he could go. He could become some high-ranking position in the Shaolin Monks, he could become a teacher like Bo' Rai Cho, he could marry Kitana and become King of Edenia. Liu's story dosn't exactly have to be the silent hero.

No offense, but I hate the story already.

If Kitana is to return in the next gen, she needs to trim the fat that's starting to hold her down in the story. And her relationship with Liu Kang is huge chunk of fat. It does exactly two things for her: jack and shit. The only time I found the Liu/Kitana relationship tolerable was in MK:DA....when he was dead. If Liu stays alive and they stay together, all it will do is downgrade her into a secondary character and make her look weak.

Even if Liu Kang is to return in the next gen, Kitana needs to get the hell away from him.

I don't mind that Lui Kang and Kitana are in love. It really does make sense. I mean I know a big part of Mortal Kombat is the death and the travesty. But a little romance can be a breath of fresh air. These warriors have been fighting together for a decade plus, its only natural that some would fall for the other. Kitana seems like she would be into a guy like Lui Kang if any one and vice versa. The are both noble and strong characters that have had to sacrifice so much. I kind of also like that there is this love that could be but it can't be because of the Lui Kang's duty to being the Champion of Mortal Kombat and his eventual demise. very tragic.

VENOMOUS75 I like your idea of Lui Kang and Kitana being married but not really being able to be together that often, and or the potential conflic that it might cause

....right....after spending her life fighting Tarkatans, sorcerers, Shokan, vampires, demons, and God knows what else....it's the zombie that'll freak her out.


I don't see Kitana and Raiden together. Doesn't really make sense to me and as I said before, I'd rather Kitana not have any more love interests.

A waste of what? Are you implying that Kitana needs a love interest in order to be relevant? If so, I think you're drastically underestimating Kitana's character. The relationship with Liu Kang was just pointless window dressing on her story.
